Southern Florida Serial Cat Killer Nets 30 Victims So Far

Who could be so cruel as to murder dozens of innocent cats? Police are on the prowl for ‘cat butcher.’
By The Staff at wowOwow.com

If you don’t have the stomach for stories about animal cruelty, perhaps you should pass on reading this post.

Police are hunting a serial killer south of Miami, but this persons isn’t killing people — he’s mutilating and killing cats. Some local news outlets are referring to the feline felon as "the South Florida cat butcher." At least 12 felines are believed to have fallen victim to this sadistic person — although many put that number at 20, 30 or more. Wednesday was a particularly deadly day. Five cats were found dead yesterday alone in Palmetto and in southwest Miami-Dade counties. Police first said the victims were casualties of vicious dogs, but they now say there’s no way canines could be to blame.

Tommy, a black-and-white cat belonging to a six-year-old girl, was the latest victim. He was found dead in the yard. Parents Donna and Ronald Gleason told CNN that "part of his skin was missing underneath … and part of his legs … he was partially skinned."

A reward of up to $12,000 has been offered.

In the meantime, southern Florida residents are keeping their pets inside. Let’s hope this feline killer on the loose is caught soon, so area cats can roam free from danger!

When these kind of people start killing animals as some sort of pleasure and some kind of power trip they need to be watched carefully.  In some cases folks who end being serial killers or just kill with no problem all seem to have had something to do with killing animals at a younger age and it just progresses from there.  How sad society is!!

These people are actually very cowardly and the killing gives them the "power" and control they seem to crave.

I do have a problem re feral cats and owners that dump domestic animals in the wild.  Feral cats cause an inordinate amount of bird killings. A few years back the Brits did a study on bird deaths and you’d be surprised by the amount of damage done by feral and domestic cats on wildlife. People caught dumping domestic pets in the wild need to be severely fined. This does not mean I advocate whatever the lunatic in Florida is doing—whoever it is is disgustingly sick.

I just read that a police officer’s pet cat was found mutilated on his front lawn this morning. Maybe now the police will take this issue more seriously. I would tend to think this has rated low on their totem pole.

I Read the article in The Huffington Post. The kid is smiling in his mug shot as though he does not have a care in the world! … He appears to have no remorse and thinks it’s a joke. This is America’s future serial killer mark my words.

Something’s fishy here. I came across the CNN article [see link below] and the picture is different. Different color shirt, for starters. Is it possible one of the photos was taken for some earlier charge?
