Psychic Says Susan Boyle Will Be the Next Jennifer Hudson

Will she win ‘Britain’s Got Talent’? Will Susan achieve a recording contract? Will she fall in love? wowOwow’s Intuitive Peggy Rometo speaks.

A bright future for Susan Boyle? ©AP

Amateur singer Susan Boyle, 47, became an instant celebrity two weeks ago when she appeared as a contestant in the first round of the popular ITV show "Britain’s Got Talent." Plain, awkward and clearly nervous, Boyle admitted on air that she’d "never been married, never been kissed," to guffaws from the audience and judges alike. But when Boyle sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables, she silenced her skeptics and earned a standing ovation. Her performance was seen by 10.3 million viewers; after intense media coverage, 35 million people watched it on YouTube. We asked wOw Intuitive Peggy Rometo to find out what’s in store for the world’s newest singing sensation.

(Update June 1, 2009: How accurate were Peggy Rometo’s predictions? See for yourself by clicking here to read the final results of "Britain’s Got Talent.")

wOw: What is Susan’s state of mind right now?

PEGGY ROMETO: She feels excited, yet anxious. She doesn’t want to disappoint anyone, and she doesn’t want to fall flat on her face. At her core, she is strong willed, and knows deep down that she will go through with flying colors. In a certain sense, she has been waiting for this day her entire life — and so she possesses an amazing ability to focus, to block out the audience, to access the spirit within her.

wOw: Will she win the "Britain’s Got Talent" competition?

PEGGY: I feel she’ll be a finalist, yet I don’t see her winning the title. It will be a really close call but, in the end, the winner will be someone who not only sounds like a star, but looks like one. Nevertheless, this show will be the beginning of a huge overnight career for Susan Boyle – similar in scope to Jennifer Hudson’s [who didn’t win "American Idol"]. The world will become infatuated with her.

wOw: So Susan will become a successful recording artist with an independent career of her own?

PEGGY: Yes – she’ll become an icon who will make benchmarks in music history. She’ll break and set many records – and her rise will in part be due to the nature of technology today. Because of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and the Internet itself, millions of people will know about her — and come to love her — instantly.

wOw: Will her fame last?

PEGGY: It will. After a skyrocketing, record–breaking ascent, her position in the music world will level off into a solid, mainstream career.

wOw: Is she interested in having a makeover?

PEGGY: She’s absolutely interested in being "spruced up," and would be open to some tailoring and adjustments to her wardrobe. But she’s not interested in anything too radical. She wants to look in the mirror and recognize herself. She’s a very proud woman; what you see is what you get with her, both literally and metaphorically.

wOw: Will her fame change her basic nature?

PEGGY: She will become more extroverted and more playful with the crowds as time goes on. When she’s comfortable, she’s the life of the party, and she’ll learn how to tap into that side of herself more easily. At the same time, there’s a duality to her nature. In school, she was seen as shy and introverted, and that side of her is very real. But when she’s onstage, something else takes over. So in a way, fame will really draw out her best qualities. Down the road, stress may cause her to overreact or have emotional outbursts of anger. But I do feel she is able to keep it together and remain intact and successful.

wOw: What is her current relationship with men?

I can see her eventually, getting tired of all the hoopla.  When you have lived a fairly sheltered life, it can be fun for awhile to be the center of attention, but then the longing for the peace and quiet may set in again.  It will be interesting to see how things turn out.  Luckily, she lives in a place that knows her and will always welcome her, whatever her success.

No, I don’t think so. Susan Boyle will always be Susan Boyle, not Jennifer Hudson nor any other celebrity. All talent is discovered regardless of the venue therefore, Susan will remain Susan and her career will be her career, not a mimic of any others.

who said she will be anybody? Here is the quote

this show will be the beginning of a huge overnight career for Susan Boyle – similar in scope to Jennifer Hudson’s [who didn’t win "American Idol"]. The world will become infatuated with her.

Nobody said that she will be like Jennifer Hudson! The statement referes to the scope of her career!

You really need to read "Everything" including the header! Only then can you begin to understand why people post what they do. Hope this helps you in the future!

If someone at Wow misinterpreted or exaggerated what Peggy Rometo said with this headline you are referring to, then that’s their problem. I choose to stick with what I was reading from Peggy’s quote. Nevertheless, this show will be the beginning of a huge overnight career for Susan Boyle – similar in scope to Jennifer Hudson’s [who didn’t win "American Idol"]. The world will become infatuated with her.”

Similar in scope to Jennifer Hudson’s” (Career that is, not Jennifer Hudson as an individual) Nobody can be Susan; and nobody can be Jennifer…that notion is a false perception.

PEGGY: Yes – she’ll become an icon who will make benchmarks in music history. She’ll break and set many records – and her rise will in part be due to the nature of technology today. Because of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and the Internet itself, millions of people will know about her — and come to love her — instantly.”She did not say that Susan will be the next Jennifer Hudson. Where in the dictionary do you see Next and similar have the same definitions. They are very different words. I choose to read actual quotes and not headlines. You know what they say about headline readers!

A,

When people make such generalized statements such as Susan Boyle will be the next Jennifer Hudson, I find that ridiculous for many reasons. Simply because it tells me that they truly could not find ANY "real comparisons". Aside from the fact that both were unknown at one point. But then, so was Barbara Streisand. Jennifer Hudson in fact, was lingering in the spotlight far longer than Susan Boyle, as Jennifer was building a repertoire throughout the duration of American Idol. Susan Boyle was auditioning for the first time in front of the judges of Britain’s got talent, when the worlds adulation kicked in upon hearing her for the "first time". SO, in reality the two of them are as different as night and day, no physical similarity, no vocal similarity and no performance style similarity. It just tells me that the article writer could not come up with anything distinctive to tell the story nor flavor of the artist (Susan Boyle) whom she set forth to tell of. If one is to use comparisons, then do show more than the fact that they were both unknown. Which again….Who wasn’t before they were discovered.

Well, you take that issue up with Wow.

If Susan doesn’t win the show, but becomes famous anyway I could see the comparison of the two, otherwise you can’t really compare Susan to Jennifer. I think they are two different type of singers. I think Susan should be singing Opera. I’m sure it has to do with what offers she receives after the show, but if she doesn’t get an offer to sing Oprah, somethings wrong…..I hope she doesn’t get tired of the hoopla, she’s has a really great voice!!!!

This morning there was a picture of the new Susan Boyle - she’s been true to herself but her hair is now under control and is a pretty light brown - her eyebrows have been thinned and she is proudly wearing new clothes that flatter her figure.  Good for her - picture was too small to see what kind of makeup - if any- she was wearing but she looks good and happy. Now on to the competition - lovely voice, dear woman - I wish her well.

Susan Boyle reminds me a lot of another British singer from my younger days.  Trying to remember her name!  Gracie Fields?  She retired to Capri;  I do remember that.  She was not pretty, but she entertained the troops and the nation during WWII and everyone adored her.  She did not have the great voice Susan Boyle has, but was more of a lusty variety hall singer and very funny.

She reminds me of Kate Smith. There is such honesty and deep fervor in her delivery. Her rendition of Cry Me A River is outstanding. I agree that this is a real and long-lived career in the offing.
