Susan Boyle Sings Stateside on CBS's 'Early Show' (Video)

Not since the Beatles has a British entertainer made such a splash, but Susan Boyle’s definitely one of a kind.

The 47-year-old became a star this week after appearing on "Britain’s Got Talent." Though many expected her singing to be a disaster, it’s anything but — in fact, she sings like an angel. And, as a star, Boyle’s started making the media rounds and appeared on CBS’s "Early Show" this morning.

Boyle, who is currently unemployed, says she appeared on "Britain’s Got Talent" for her mother: "I wanted to make this a tribute to my mother. I knew it was something I had to do. I had to get on with it. That’s where the courage came from, my mother." Well, bravo to both women.

Here’s footage of Boyle’s appearance and her breathtaking vocals.

Suzanne brought our attention to this a few days ago.

It was fun to watch the reaction on Simon’s face. Not often that he hears angels singing.

I notice that whenever an English person makes a splash, the media identifies them as English. If they are Scottish (or Welsh), they get called British. That way, the English take credit.

Fecking English!

I am so thrilled for Ms. Boyle and this opportunity she has been afforded.  The blonde judge from Britain’s Got Talent said it best; it IS a privilege to have witnessed such a performance.  The CBS This Morning background piece was a nice touch.  Her friends were not surprised in the least.  But then to sing it acapella, just as beautifully?  What a talent.  I wish all the best for this lovely lady.

What a breath of fresh air this woman represents!   I am thrilled for her that she followed her dying  mother’s wish to "take a risk" and go on this show.   Her voice is amazing, a gift from God.   The look on Simon’s face was priceless.

Diane Sawyer asked her this morning about a possible makeover.  She seemed to welcome the idea!

It’s the makeover that  could ruin her genuine persona. She has the potential to realize the dream of many so called "plain" people. Such an inspirational role model that beauty comes from within. I hope she doesn’t lose herself in the hype of what others think is a better look.

Somewhere Susan had a fantastic voice teacher, as well as a natural talent, and it sounds like perfect pitch.  And, I bet she is a very sweet person.  I sincerely hope she can handle her new found fame.  I have a feeling that up until now, she has sacrificed her hopes and dreams for others.  Now, it’s her time to shine!

Having taken years of vocal coaching myself and seeing all of the "non-angel" singers on American Idol I feel like I can correctly say that this is a fine example of true talent. =)

I can’t wait to see where this goes and I’ll be lining up to purchase the album!

OH! Susan took my breath away!!! I had tears in my eyes. Never judge a book by its cover! I would love to have her CD when thats possible.

Susan Boyle doesn’t have to put up with all this condescending treatment about her appearance, as if only "beautiful" young people come with gifts. Her stunning voice gives her the power to be heard without having to look like a post-manufacture pop tart. The world is beating a path to her door just as she is, and we’ve only heard a tiny taste of what she can do.

Susan has the same appeal and sweetness that the world loved about Kate Smith .  She has the personality to carry off "big" songs. We all look forward to hearing her version of all the show stoppers.

Thanks so much for the clip.

Although I’m a Brit, I don’t watch "Britain’s Got Talent", so I only saw her performance by clicking on YouTube because of the excitement her performance had generated.  Forewarned, I was expecting to be impressed.  What I didn’t expect was to hear a voice that cut right through my cynicism and hit something deep inside me, and like others, I had tears in my eyes.

Her recordings of Cry Me A River and Killing Me Softly, apparently for a charity record, are just as breathtaking.

*blushing guiltily*

I still want to pluck her eyebrows.  Please!?!

She looks much better in this picture from the early show than she did on Britains got talent.  She needn’t go much farther than that in the makeover dept.

Oh and yes she does have a fantastic voice and I hope even if she doesn’t win BGT the exposure gives her a great career.
