wOw’s own Intuitive, Peggy Rometo, was right!

Scottish singing phenom Susan Boyle didn’t win first place in Saturday night’s "Britain’s Got Talent" finale, but placed second behind dance troupe Diversity — who had some kind, encouraging words for the 48-year-old Boyle. Peggy Rometo predicted in April that it would be a close competition for Boyle, but "in the end, the winner will be someone who not only sounds like a star, but looks like one. Nevertheless, this show will be the beginning of a huge overnight career for Susan Boyle – similar in scope to Jennifer Hudson’s [who didn’t win "American Idol"]. The world will become infatuated with her."

She was right on that front, too. Despite her loss, it’s thought Boyle could make millions from a singing career, reports The Telegraph. Still, Boyle was expectedly disappointed by the loss, but she had a lot of fans in the crowd and at home pulling for her as she once again sang "I Dreamed a Dream," which is the song that made her famous — including Demi Moore and hubby Ashton Kutcher — and the result was seen as a huge upset.

But with all the world watching, the pressure got to Susan. She was hospitalized soon after the finals following complaints of exhaustion. Her spokesman said she was fine, just "drained" — physically and emotionally. Her brother told the BBC that she was feeling homesick and "showing signs of anxiety." (Perhaps that was the reason for her outburst at a London hotel last week?) Even British Prime Minister Gordon Brown wished her well.

"She had too long to wait between the audition show and the final, and the pressure just builds and builds and builds," judge Piers Morgan told a British news program. "It’s been crazy, she has gone from anonymity to being the most-downloaded woman in history."

Boyle told the "BGT" cameras this weekend that the pressure was "overwhelming": "It’s the most important night of my life tonight. When I step on the stage it’s the accumulation of 40 years of dreaming. A lifelong ambition."

We think your dream will soon be realized, Susan. Get well soon, so you can be ready to take the world by storm — again!

My heart goes out to this wonderful lady.   She was stellar in her competitive role and was very gracious when the winner was announced.   She is an ordinary woman with an extraordinary talent and I’m sure the spotlight finally got to her.   The media can be cruel and deliberate as was the case with Susan and her fast track to stardom.

She deserves a nice long rest.   She has, after all, worked very hard and became a winner in many of our hearts.

I agree.  I also hope that the media starts to take some ownership of this type of abuse.  The big newspapers need to see how the reporters/photographers are getting their stories and photos: if they are abusing the celebrity involved, they should be banned from submitting.  And I’m sorry, I’m not against the UK or anything, but they seem to have far more of this type of behavior than we have here in the US.

I too hope she has a good long rest, including a few days away from any media… hope she has some good friends to hug her and remind her why we ALL fell in love with her.

I agree C. I have heard equity actors not sing that song for Le Mis as well.

My heart, too, goes out to Susan. I cannot imagine the pressure of living a relatively sheltered life to becoming the most watched and talked about person in the world. I thought of what it must have been like on finale night. People doing hair, makep, talking to you, waiting to be dressed and on top of that just needing a moment to calm one’s nerves. I wonder now if the song she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" has turned into her worst nightmare. To have shared her beautiful gift with the world & be so overwhelmed by the glare of the spotlight. I truly wish that someone trustworthy will step forward to help her through this new journey of her life. I wonder if she wishes she had never left her village; I’m sure she felt safer & more peaceful with the ones that know & love her for who she is, not what they can get from her. Be well, Susan. I’m pulling for you.

What is up with Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher? They seem to attach themselves to every cultural ‘phenomenon’ du jour.

Susan Boyle was overcome by the overwelcoming attention all at once as anyone would even if they hadn’t led a sheltered life. We can only hope she recovers soon and makes the most of her wonderful voice.

I can’t for a moment walk in her shoes. It must be horrendous. From a quiet life to world famous, who could handle that in a few weeks?

I wish her all the best.

Absolutely right - she was definitely the winner. I’m just in awe of her talent.

I have to wonder if she’s really driven to have an all-consuming career. I don’t think so.

Andrea, I don’t think she is driven to have a big career either. I do hope she makes a recording though, I will surely buy it! She has such a beautiful voice. I hope she goes home for awhile and just rests, it is pretty draining, I would think with all the hoopla she has went through.

Mel….I think she has a CD ready to be released. This is very sad how the media has turned this beautiful woman upside down.  I think they take advantage of her mental state and push her just to get her fired up and there you go…."a story is born"!  She is not the norm, so she was easy to go after…some of the names that were dubbed for her was very insulting…and I heard on the radio that joy from the view even joked that she would not be on "America’s top Model"…..these insults are disgusting and makes you wonder how kids get the idea to bully!

I’ll buy that CD, for sure.

I think it’s disgusting how some people get off on belittling other people. She was indeed so vulnerable and those vultures just snapped her up.
