Ted Haggard Talks Sanctity of Marriage on 'Divorce Court' – Airs April 1

Disgraced evangelical pastor Ted Haggard will be preaching the sanctity of marriage on public television.

Haggard and wife Gayle are reportedly taping a segment of "Divorce Court," which will have judge Lynn Toler interviewing them on how their marriage survived a very public scandal. In November 2006, male prostitute Mike Jones revealed that he and Haggard had a three-year clandestine relationship. He also claimed Haggard used crystal meth. Haggard later confessed to "sexual immorality" and subsequently left his mega-church, New Life.

Since the scandal, Haggard has been undergoing counseling and speaking with ministers. During a January 2009 interview on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Haggard didn’t consider himself a gay man, but rather a "heterosexual with issues." Today, the couple preaches that it has been their faith and love that keep them strong. They live with their five children, daughter-in-law and granddaughter in their Colorado Springs home, according to Haggard’s official website.

The "Divorce Court" segment reportedly airs on April Fools’ Day. Oh, the irony!

As a Christian, I believe that God forgives all of us for all of our shortcomings.

That includes shamelessly capitalizing on our "shortcomings" (lying is a shortcoming), if we go to Him with our hats sincerely in hand.

That being said: I don’t have to listen to this guy and won’t.  I don’t see the sincerity, but that is for God to judge.

Isn’t this that gay preacher who had sex with that male hooker and bought drugs from him? Didn’t it come out that he also had sex with or made a pass at one of his parishioners?

Fundamentalism is a mental illness and this is the perfect example of it. Haggard would just be a sad character if he wasn’t doing so much damage to others by promoting this big lie.

For goodnes sake! This such a scarey thing. And to think that the Christian right controls the Republican party.  And they are complaining, on this board,  that Michelle Obama has nice looking arms. What has happened  to true conservative values?

Well, see, what you are missing is that by having extramarital sex with a MAN, Rev. Haggard was actually avoiding the possibility of an unwanted pregnancy and the further possible evil of an abortion.  So even while he was sinning, he was trying to avoid compound sinning, which would have made him an even worse sinner.  AND, his wife didn’t dump him, even though she could have, which now makes them the people to go to if you are either a man who wants to screw around but still keep your home life intact if you should get caught, or a woman whose husband screws around but who seeks a way to endure anything to avoid divorce.  I’m not interested, but I’m sure there are plenty who would like to feel "holy" and "noble" by being flimflammed and made a public fool.  So enjoy!

"The Sanctity of Marriage."  Those words make me so sick when coming from the mouth of an adulterous jerk like Ted Haggard.  Especially since it’s bigots like Mr. Haggard that will fight tooth and nail against Same Sex Marriage.  They use their religion to legalize discrimination.  "Heterosexual with issues."  That’s a fluffy way of saying "In the Closet."

Ted Haggard???? "Sanctity?" Isn’t that like a prostitute supporting and promoting monogamy? SMH…I’ll let God deal with that one.

Wow, that man just does not get it.  Heterosexual with issues?  Sorry, you are a gay man who just won’t accept it.  His willful denial of this very obvious fact means that he has no credibility on any subject on which he chooses to speak—especially the ‘sanctity of marriage’.

I feel sorry for his children, I can’t imagine the taunts they’ve had to endure because of his outright and outrageous hypocrisy.

He’ll have to confront his maker. I will not throw the first stone. I was taught to forgive. However, I’ve seen several interviews Ted Haggard and I did not feel one degree of sincerity. It was sad to see his wife sitting next to him looking desparate. She has often said she knew something was wrong. He does’nt have the right to give lectures on the sanctity of marriage  especially when he did not honor his own marriage. He has no credibility! Mrs Haggard are you having yourself checked periodically for HIV and  STDs?

Correction However, Ive seen several interviews with Ted Haggard and I did not feel one degree of sincerity on his part. It’s sad to see his wife seated next to him looking crushed and desperate.
