Joan Ganz Cooney Laughs at 'Daily Show' Bobby Jindal Skit (Video)

Jon Stewart critiquing Bobby Jindal’s speech (which followed Obama’s major address last week). Stewart compared Jindal’s delivery with that of Mr. Rogers of "Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood," and it was spot-on and very funny.

Liz Smith on Hysterical NYMag Piece That Said Post Fired Her ...

The writer Jonathan van Meter’s perfectly hysterical comment in New York Magazine, to wit: "Last week the Post fired Liz Smith but not cartoonist Sean Delonas."

Candice Bergen on Steve Martin and Kristin Scott Thomas

Maybe Steve Martin on "SNL" two weeks ago. And weep? Just saw Kristin Scott Thomas in "I’ve Loved You So Long." OMG. What a brave, powerful performance. Just a sidebar.

Julia Reed: Laughter and 'Life on Mars'

Everything makes me laugh — thank God — but one thing that has been making me pretty consistently happy is my new absolute favorite TV show, "Life on Mars," set in 1973 New York City, complete with the fabulous Harvey Keitel in while slip-on shoes. It is so well written, well shot and well acted (Gretchen Mol is wondrous), and the soundtrack is out of sight. Every week it makes me laugh — and cry — and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Joan Juliet Buck 'Howls' at 'Onion TV' (Video)

"Onion TV" makes me howl with laughter every time.
It’s funnier than The Onion newspaper. It is witty, sharp and so well performed that it looks real.
And the deadpan approach is everything I need right now.
It’s enhanced my life and may save the world through derision.

C jay, I love the British comedies. Monty Python, Are You Being Served?, As Time Goes By (love Judi Dench), Keeping Up Appearances (my favorite, I have all those), and more I can’t recall. However, I don’t know which one you’re describing. I’ll go to BBC online and see if I can help you find it. BTW, Brits seem to know more about comedy sometimes than we’ll ever know, eh?

Oh my God, I LOVE Keeping Up Appearances! LOVE IT! It’s almost predictable but never quite and always a scream! I’m a bit annoyed because now my PBS station seems to prefer to show Irish women singing when they used to show the British comedies. But perhaps they will bring it back. Good to find a fan!

Blue, ( I love your avatar) your reply to me cracked me up! Of course, you already know I love Hyacinth, Daisy, Rose and Violet! And you know I love their men folk too! But what cracked me up is your saying your PBS interrupted your joy of KUA to have the Celtic women sing! LOL! I love those songs (can’t get into seeing them sing and wearing those dresses, but who knows what is normal for those type of concerts) and love Celtic music. Anyway, Blue, hang in there. They’ll always bring Hyacinth back. Who would dust the books and hand her neighbor the cup of coffee so the neighbor could shake it and drop it on one of Hyacinth’s finest carpets? I mean, only Hyacinth can insult her neighbor without hard words coming out of her mouth, right? I loved it when she and hubby went out looking for ancient iron remains!!! What’s your favorite episode?

Well, I confess I kind of like the songs, too, also the chance to win a trip to Ireland, but really? Instead of Hyacinth and the gang? C’mon, PBS! I also have to confess that I haven’t seen every episode (haven’t seen the iron one), but I do have a few memorable moments—love the Christmas one with Hyacinth as Santa, love w/ Mrs. Fortescue when she gets stuck on the bag of the truck, love when she dumps a bucket of horse manure all over the h’or dervs at her "Candlelight Supper", and have a soft spot for when she’s getting "alarmed" and no one has any idea what she means right away and thus are "alarmed". It’s  the descent into madness, complete and utter madness, what Hyacinth hath wrought, that I love. Though I love Onslow and Rose and Elizabeth too!

C jay, try this BBC place and see if what you’re looking for is on the list. I looked at the list and remembered that I also LOVE Eddie Izzard. He makes me scream with laughter!

If you don’t find the show you’re looking for, I’d write to BBC via the Contact Us venue and describe the show to them. I’ll bet they’ll tell you what it is. Good luck!

Grouch Marx’s TV quiz shows is on CDs with Netflix, and a friend told me that they "cracked" her up - she was totally burned out on politics by August 2008, and as a avid reader still couldn’t find any relief from the insanity going on.

I ordered them to be at the top of my Queue, and when they arrived spent hours just as my friend describbed, on the floor in absolute stitches. In fact, I was certain that my neighbors 2 houses, front, back, and sides, could hear me.

That stuff is really valuable to us, now. And, there were no "applause" tracks!

Thanks, C jay. I’ll look into those. I’ve also loved those crazy movies the Marx brothers made. Can’t remember titles right now, but they were hilarious. I think Lucille Ball was in one of their early ones and she was playing a "straight" character! I love your avatar. I have 3 cats of my own. One looks like your avatar. Peace.

Adore the quick responses on ‘here,’ Margaret. I enjoy the old comedies, too - they were fare more realistic, like the tv shows, with less prompting (other than the actual signs or "the bird" coming down) to tell people to "LAUGH." ;-))

I did a ‘search’ for old comedies on Netflix but didn’t find enough. :0( Guess I’ll have to start writing down my own antics!

Yes, that is "Snickers." I need another feline - my Burmese and Snickers are "gone," now. waaaa waaaaaa

 Peace, yes!!!!!

Margaret - Eve Arden was in one - A Day at the Circus.  She had to wear shoes that stuck her to the ceiling.

My husband makes me laugh every day.

Yesterday I also laughed at The Police playing around on their Certifiable DVD, and at a scene in the book I’m reading (Agnes and the Hitman) where a bride gets so frustrated by her grandmother and future MIL she dies her grandma’s dress hot pink and tells them she’s having a flamingo themed wedding in an effort to get them so upset that they would agree to her original wedding plans.

I also have a husband who makes me laugh everyday - isn’t that just the best thing?

A friend who attended our wedding said he wished he could have been up on the altar with us because he knew from the way our shoulders were shaking that we were having some good laughs. How could I not laugh at my groom as he knelt beside and sang "And now, the end is near…" Old Blue Eyes himself would have been so proud!
