I try to catch shows on PBS that feature performers that I am not familiar with, and look up what they have recorded and pick from there. CA Rose

CA Rose, NPR has a great newsletter via email to keep you abreast of new music, new performers, et al.

Other: I turn to my favorite artists’ recommendations and influences, AND I pay close attention to QUALITY television shows and films - usually if they bother with good writing/acting/production, they also acquire talented crew members for soundtrack selection.

For example: indie films, shows like "The L Word", "Nip/Tuck", and yes even that damn overrated "Grey’s Anatomy" all have some impressive soundtracks. I also like to go profile-hopping through MySpace artists.

pandora.com - this is a fabulous website where I select artists that I enjoy listening to and they then play music of artist who are similar in style that I may not have never heard of. This is my favorite Sunday activity - enjoying the music provided by Pandora while I’m relaxing and re-charging for Monday.

Pandora is pretty cool.  There are other Internet music stations I listen to as well.

I also discover new bands from my 17-year-old son who has great taste in music.  ‘The Shins’ and ‘Muse’ are two bands that he turned me onto.

My kids also provide me with new music, mostly my 17 year-old daughter.

I listen to XM in the house. I love no commercials and enjoy the variety of musical styles. I am still building my iTunes library - I keep a list of songs near my computer for whenever I buy music next. My daughter takes about 40% of what I download so my taste must not be that horrible!

Love your avatar, by the way!

I learned something new today!  I was not familiar with Pandora.com.  I checked it out and think I have found a new favorite.

By the way, I notice a lot of us have said that we voted for Other.  And yet…the ever reliable pie-chart says 0% for Other.

I used to need music all day long, now I need it to be very quiet in the house.
