I LOVELOVELOVE winter. I love driving in it… I love the sound of the tires crushing the snow and ice. I love walking in it. I love the crisp cold air. I love the smell of "Christmas" when winter comes (please don’t ask me what that means or how to describe it - it’s one of those.. I know it when I smell it).
If I had it my way, I’d move to a part of Alaska where it snowed all the time. :o)
Ah, come-on! Winter being the less liked? Well then, just call me werd. But I come from the desert, and now live in Michigan. Winter is when things look clean. There’s no tourists or misquitoes ( thoes two seem to have alot in common around here). Traffic actually slows down in the winter and drive like actual human beings. And nothing seems crowded. Call me werd, but I love the winter!
Mark - "you’re weird!" ;0)) Ok, I’m from MI, and to this day, I cringe when the temperature drops, or there is a reason for an early darkness where I life now - it depresses me. It may be ‘memories’ of "those times," granted, and I’m well-aware of that, but cold???? UG.
OTOH, people congregrate and survive together in MI, the mid-west, and east coast than those the other-side-of-the-Mississippi. I credit that to cold weather. We are a far heartier bunch, overall.
But, I do not like cold weather, and worse, I hate coats. The only way I got myself over that part of it was to puchase an incredible coat one year with a high, thick Mandarin collar and deep cuffs of Persian Lamb … ahhhh that was lovely enough to wear in the summer (I still have it!). And, people can hate others for wearing fur, but to me fur is the only thing that guarantees that I will not shiver under any circumstances - great for downtown Chicago in the depths of a winter night.
fall-winter are my favorite seasons. i have horrible allergies that start in the fall and then the unbearable heat in the summer. at least reno has some cool days (not like sacramento, oh that is horribly hot from april to november, no spring and fall, just summer and winter).
i’ve lived in the san francisco bay area all my life. but moved to reno, nv in 2003. i fell in love with the true seasons (san francisco has 3 seasons, warm, warmer and cold) of spring, summer, fall and winter. sometimes i miss the kind of cold (and even tho it only rains in san fran, it still can freeze you to the core, it a cold, wet, icy feeling in your bones) san fran has to offer. but not much because i found SNOW.
i absolutely love snow and can never get enough of it. i can even drive in it. last year we had our very first white christmas. my grandson got to see it at age 2 1/2yrs and it was so magical. you just cannot believe it. i’m hoping the same happens this year as he is more understanding of the whole process and i think he will really love it. he doesn’t like the snow that much because when he touches it, it freezes him. so he plays a lot inside. so do i. i could stay in and only go out to shop, eat and see movies. otherwise i can curl up with a good movie or book in my warm footed jammies and feel right at home.
so you snow birds keep your hot florida winters and i’ll keep my cold nevadan winters. i absolutely adore it here. now anybody got a way to get rid of the developers? i hate them!
My favorite season used to be summer due to the crazy snow amounts we get here in NWPA. I moved to CA for 7 yrs and discovered the season I missed the most was fall, the leaves, the smell, the temperature…not too cold, not too hot, blue skies and puffy clouds seemed brighter. The Apples, pumpkins, indian corn and many types of colorful squash displayed at road side stands. Oh, and can’t forget the freshly made Apple Cider, heaven.
Spring is my favorite time of the year. Spring is when everything comes alive again. Fall and winter depresses me, but Spring gives me a feeling of hope. I truly believe that the seasons are symbolic of life!!!
sorry. I like the picture. so I copied it. It reminds me of me. sorry.
I love the fall because it is the most beautiful time of the year (in my opinion) Things are changing. Nature around me is changing. And my favorite holiday is Halloween! I love it. and I love Dia De Los Muertos, I always make an effort to have an altar in my home. This year will be the second time I will include my own mother and her favorite things on this altar. I really look forward to this time of year.

I love the winter, cold crisp air — the more it snows, the more I like it.
