Whoopi Goldberg Does It Again

New in her New York Times bestselling chapter-book series, Sugar Plum Ballerinas, Whoopi Goldberg’s second installment is entitled Toeshoe Trouble. Here are the further adventures of six girls attending ballet school in Harlem, NY. In this one, Brenda Black — hilarious and poignant — faces her spoiled cousin and gets herself in a real mess in the doing.

Thank you, Whoopi Goldberg for both of your books! …  You have provided an avenue for little black girls, little girls of color and all etnicities to experience their dreams, wishes and goals in storybook form. You have made it possible for little black girls and little girls of color to see their mirrored images. The illustrations are beautiful! … This reminds me of Arthur Mitchell’s "Dance Theater of Harlem."

For generations Black girls and women were told that they did not have the physiques to dance ballet! … What an ignorant and bigoted perspective! … The Dance Theater of Harlem went on to win many awards and to dance before kings, queens, hundreds of dignitaries and before many nations internationally!

Girls, teens and women of all ages and ethnicities will find enjoyment in reading both books!

I hope you continue with your series! … It is very inspiring, diverse and inclusive! … We live in a global world. It would be lovely if parents of all nationalities were to share these books with their children!

Hi Whoopi.  Congratulations on the launch of your new book!  If I’m ever blessed with grandchildren (please Lord - not yet!) your books will definitely be in my stack of storytime selections. I checked Wikipedia to see what I could find about your books and there is definitely not enough detail about the books in your bio.  You ought to have a trusted somebody scrub your bio, flesh it out a bit more and ensure that it tells the full story of you.

Thank you for being a patient truth-teller, torchbearer and a wonderful example of womanhood.

Wishing you peace, love and fantastic adventures.  E

Way to go Whoopi, you are one very remarkable and talented lady.

I watch you on The View when I can, and I think you are an asset to the show. Don’t take me wrong, I like all the women on the show, but I think you are a good mix with all of them.
