Being only three, my Milo doesn’t qualify as an old dog, but, I’ve had them and I’ve loved them, and still remember them all.

Nice tribute to these wonderful companions.

What great picturess!  So many dogs have been a wonderful part of my childhood and my adulthood.  I cried when I left for the university because Fancy Pants couldn’t come along.  When I would call home, Mom or Dad would place the receiver to her ear so she could hear my voice, and she would smile. Fancy had a super smile!.

Right now Angel With An Attitude is in charge of the house, and everyone knows it…. especially Trouble ( the cat).

What a wonderful tribute to the Senior canines who have devoted their lives to loving owners! Jake, our gentle black Lab, was nearly 15 when he was diagnosed with oral cancer. Because of a heart arrythmia, it could not be treated with chemo. We chose to let him live out his days until the cancer made eating a chore for him. His smile, his galloping side run, his love of "meet & greet", his ability to outstare a coyote too close to our house……all this we miss daily. His marker reads "Rest well, faithful friend."

My bijon-poodle, whom I rescued as a puppy, passed away this summer at nineteen and a half. I have written a book about her, as her longevity has come to mean many things. These photos are wonderful.

Thank you so much for featuring my Beana who passed away in 2008 shortly after her picture was taken.  She was the beginning of my love affair with the breed of Rat Terriers.  She was one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever seen, with a little zip and vinegar thrown in.  I miss you Beana.

And, the person who actually got that beautiful pose was my friend Debbie Collins with her never resting camera.

Old dogs are old friends who are a part of us forever.  My old dog Foxy, our Foxy Lady has been with us 10 years.  A sharpei/German Shepherd mix, she became my constant companion and friend when my youngest moved out on his own.
