This wedding is for the history books.

A bride has filed suit against a wedding guest for ruining her dream day when she said at the reception that she had an affair with the groom. At the party, shortly after Sandrina and Harold Purdum said ‘I Do,’ guest Jennifer Angevine, who was Harold’s boss at the time, poked Sandrina in the chest as she told her of an alleged relationship. Sundrina, who claims that now she can’t trust her mate, accuses Angevine of slander, battery and inflicting emotional distress. Meanwhile, Harry denies the supposed romance.

In Robert Littell’s book (a college friend of JFK Jr) "The Men We Became," at the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, Carolyn Bessette’s mother, I’m quoting from the book:

"I don’t remember her exact words, but she implied that she was worried for her daughter, unsure if this union was in her best interest. In hindsight, it’s chilling."

John was visibly stung by the remarks.

I hope she wins her case.  What a smug, arrogant woman to do this at the wedding ceremony. If this husband wants this marriage to work, he better behave like an angel in church.  I note it says the woman was "Harold’s boss at the time. "  Harold better be working someplace else rather than just not for this woman if he wants to be remotely happy in his new capacity as husband.

This is beyond sad. I hope the two of them can work this out if they truly love each other. That woman should be sued to say the least! She might also need a psychiatric examination. It takes one hell of a lot of nerve and hatred to spit something like that out on a wedding day. My heart goes out to the bride and groom.

I agree that it takes a lot of nerve and hatred, but I’m not sure the answer is to reach for an attorney and a lawsuit. Really…will a little bit of money really make her trust her husband more?  I wonder if there was doubt there to begin with.  I would like to think that if you made the decision to trust this person for the rest of your life, you’d just blow off what this woman said.

I agree that if you marry someone, you should really trust them, and at any rate, you can only go forward - past romances are a fact of life for most people, the important thing is the commitment you have now.

But there is really something wrong with Angevine - she almost sounds like "Fatal Attraction."  How hateful to do something like this and intentionally ruin someone’s wedding day.  I think the bride is right to bring charges for assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress; I would also sue to recover my reception expenses, since she ruined that for everyone.
