Candice Bergen Keeps Her Feet on the Ground at Home

Candice Bergen
Forgive me, but is this not a tad too princess-like when millions can’t even afford health care? I am so goddamned grateful to get in to see the best doctors. Having my feet in the stirrups at home doesn’t speed that one up.

I agree if MDs and staff come to your home.  I was thinking if screening test could be developed along the lines of a home pregnancy test then we could do some good.  Urine, feces, spit and any other body fluid must hold some clues.  My mother in law used to call in to test her pace maker…. something like that for heart patients could be cost saving.  It wouldn’t even have to be at home…. perhaps kind of like a internet cafe?  Very futuristic, but sounds promising to me.   Although it does make me think I can never find a full service filling station when I need my tire pressure checked.

Sry, I didn’t save any of those green stamps but I’ve got one of the last paper food stamps issued to remind me what it was like counting them out in front of scathing and curious eyes.

I’m sure a few of us can remember some of those days, nothing to be ashame of. At least our children went to bed, with a full stomach, some of us even fed some of the children of, the community who had parents, that was too proud too recieve food-stamps.

"Forgive me, but is this not a tad too princess-like when millions can’t even afford health care?"  Thank You Ms. Bergen.  I have no Health Insurance which means if I get sick or hurt I am certain to go bankrupt.  Additionally, purchasing Rx without insurance is outrageous.  One Rx is over $300.  That is just robbery.  Nothing can justify these costs.

Healthcare should be a right and not a privledge.  Also, if we had Universal Healthcare like the rest of the civilized and industrialized world we would be far more competitive because the obscence cost of employee healthcare coverage would be a thing of the past.  It’s not the unions that are hurting our manufacturing, it is the cost of healthcare.

But, once one get to become a doctor, all most can see is Dollar signs. Is the reason most went too school. Some will write a Rx, knowing you can not afford to purshase it. You lose your pride when you find out, the cost of eye drops.

I can remember green stamps AND doctor’s making housecalls. ( I was down with strep throat and don’t think I could have made it into the office.)  But those days are gone.  I don’t know how people in the insurance business sleep at night.  My co-pay in the 80’s was 25 cents a prescription.  Then greed took over.  Enough said.
