Candice Bergen Is 'Happily Unemployed'

Candice Bergen
I have never been fired, thank God, and am now sort of happily unemployed. If I were fired, I would call my husband immediately and wail, "MAAAAAARSH!!!" And he would make up a plan of action.

I love it! A strong woman like you would call hubby and he would figure it out! I can imagine how that makes him feel! I too, am a strong lady and I know when I share my concerns with my guy, he is quick to support me. Now, if I could just find home buyers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I could give him back some of the stability he has given me!

Never been fired! Lucky you. It is such a humbling experience. Once I had a job, had just received a pay raise and a great review and was fired by a supervisor who when I asked her why, she said smiling: "Because nobody likes you." WOW! Seriously, it actually was not true, some people did like me : ) but this woman had a habit of setting people up and had told myself and my colleague that it was between the two of us who would be promoted to fill the position of our boss who had just left. After my now *rival* colleague stopped talking to me, which was a shock, I mean not responding to anything I said and we had been friendly! I told my supervisor I was not interested in the position that I was content to stay where I was just happily editing copy. It was after that that the hammer came down and oh I was so naive, I had thought I had done a good thing by stepping down that now everybody would be happy and we could all simply *work.* It was pretty hard to take because I really loved that job and I would have fought it but when weighed in the scheme of things it didn’t tilt in that direction and truthfully sometimes you really *do* have to take it on the chin & just go.

Lucky you, Candice.  But some to think about it, I have never gotten "fired" per se, either - I have been "let go" in one way or another - and had jobs dropped just when I thought they were mine - (ouch!) But in shoz biz jobs have a tendency to melt away rather than resorting to firing.

Is Marsh doing anything this week? I could use some help putting together a plan of action.

I hope to god that I do not get fired in this distraught economic climate. But if by some chance I do, I’ll be sure to find out what Marsh’s plan of action is!

I hear you Elieen.  It’s a shame that one so capable has to take it in the chin, and humbles herself to remain employed.  One works to the level of having no other life just to prove themselves and because of a selfish, greedy, underminder and less then average manager who’s behind wasn’t kiss enough then tells you your not liked is an insecure person.
