Candice Bergen Keeps It Simple
In response to: Recessionistas: If you have sworn off vacations because of this recession, what are you doing instead?
The older I get, the more I like to stay home. The less I like to travel.
So we’re going to L.A. Thursday for ten days. Whoopee. Just to get rid of my chronic winter sniffles. Maybe London to meet my daughter, who’s in Ethiopia, whom I miss like crazy. No exotic travel plans. The last was Dubai and Ethiopia for Thanksgiving to see my daughter. That held me for a while.

Need a partner to fly with? Ha Ha! When your family is not near it is so very hard. My son, 24, lives in Tempe and my mom lives in Surprise, AZ. I go as much as I can and when I finally see them I hold them so tight and tell them that I miss them more now than ever before. I am lucky because my mom and I speak daily - sometime for hours at a time and sometimes 5 times a day. My son calls me at least 3 times per week. Big travel plans for me is Chicago - for other family there and Arizona. Maybe next year to Paris again - or outside of London - Robin Hoods Bay - That was fantastic!
Love and enjoy watching Candice. She seems a very gracious, kind woman. And like Candice, as I get older I find I’m not so thrilled with traveling. I very much dislike the hassles at the airports. My daughter and I had planned on going to Seattle to see my mother, but decided staying at home this year seemed more feasible. Though the Market Place in Seattle keeps calling to me!
