The Consumer Queen

In the latest trend of women empowering women through these tough times, a 33-year-old recession-conscious mother has taken to the Web to share her money-saving advice. Melissa Garcia, of Edmond, OK, calls herself the "The Consumer Queen" and founded a website, consumerqueen.com, where she posts the best sales, frugal tips, special promotions and more.

The bargain hunter also hosts her own YouTube broadcast.

According to her website, Garcia saved more than $10,000 in 2007 by using coupons and tracking product reviews, sales and special promotions. For her on-air program, Garcia shares her shopping secrets — including how to score $300 worth of groceries for only $20. Watch her do this incredible feat below:

Garcia isn’t the only smart female spreading good ideas. Just recently, we met a 93-year-old great-grandmother who’s hosting a cooking show, "Great Depression Cooking With Clara," that uses inexpensive ingredients.

I found this blog today from the NYTimes and would love to share it with you all:  http://roomfordebate.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/09/the-new-frugality-no-passing-fad/?8ty&emc=ty

The times, they are a’changin’, and we will be changing too.  This is the real world; we just enjoyed a wonderful fantasy time in our nation’s history.  And, I will still argue that we have to reach into our deeper selves and have a conversation about the American Conscience and how it will be affected by all of this as the days pass.  Perhaps, we will rediscover Compassion.

Diana T, I apprecate the information! I went to the blog. There’s a lot to read.  I also left a comment. We will rediscover compassion. Americans are a  little nervous at this time. Personally, I’m relying on and finding comfort and joy in my faith. Be of good cheer!

I used my CVS Extra Care $10.00 coupon and shopped for free… Well, I did have to pay .10 cents…
