Thanks to the President’s Stimulus Plan, I now receive about $25 more a month in Food Stamps. I now receive $124 per month as a single person. I’m not being sarcastic. I REALLYAM thrilled to get the increase…I was afraid they were going to cut me back more than they did when I got a cost of living increase in my SSDI at the first of the year. CA
CA Rose, the only people complaining are the the top 5% of the country who are going back to pre-Bush regime tax levels which are still lower for them than Reagan era tax rates.
The other group of people that are complaining are the brain washed ditto heads that have absolutlely no idea or facts about why and what they are supposed to be so upset about. They should have renamed the Tea Bagging event the Factory Workers for Millionaires event.
I think we have all benefited from the recession in the way of our friends and our neighborhoods. Collectively we seem to be volunteering more, we are thinking more of others than our own material goods and we are learning once again that less is better.
This too shall pass. Real Estate Markets around here in Central Kentucky are rebounding for the past 2 months. I think I am seeing more talk of future innovative ways to conserve, and we are all re-evaluating our lifestyles. I have thought all along that difficult times bring the best out in most of us.
James, I still think a boost to the economy doesn’t mean the ability to go out and buy lots of material "things". I think I was mis-understood and that people think I’m wealthy. No, no, I am a widow on a fixed income, and I am one disease away from losing everything. In fact, most of us are, truth be told.
What I was thinking about is our quality of Living. I think in terms of the Gilded Age 100 years ago, and how the rich got too rich and the rest of America was struggling. And, when it came to a sudden, how humbling it was for the very rich to realize that they, too had to fhink of people other than themselves.
There are signs right now that things are stabilizing and that the stimulus is starting to show results, albeit small, but they are there. But, I would hope that we don’t get back to our own version of the Gay Nineties. I hope we end up richer in spirit than we were.
Kay, we’ll switch over to the Derby Section, or the monitors will delete us for going off subject. But, in the case they may enjoy it also, here’s a good link from my local paper:

"Factory workers for Millionaires" - you should send that to Jon Stewart! It is funny & on point.

Amen to all that, DT.
I hope Mine the Bird runs in The Preakness, but it sounds iffy as I type. Cheers.
