Somehow … somehow, we paid way way too much last year so it turns out we don’t owe any.  . and how would you like to be in THAT situation??  AND SO - you know what?  I think the High Arctic is looking better and better as a "go" this summer.  Give me the snow and the sun and … polar bears any time …   Yes!!!!

Joan, we expect a full report when you get back, and of course, we know you won’t try to swim with the bears … like that woman in berlin ;-)

If I don’t owe any money, I file my taxes as soon as all the forms are in, usually at the end of January.  If I do owe money, I wait until the first week in April to mail the packet in.

Hey Marjorie, that is exactly how I do mine!

It’s prudent to check taxable income on 9/1 and make the adjustment in Witholding/Deductions THEN to get more income and not let IRS own you money back w/o interest - such as interest may be now.

To let IRS owe us is silly. Get it back before Dec 30th.

We had it all prepared, knew we owed (no more deducts) so filed yesterday. Life marches on.

I never owe any money so that is easy.

Yes, the deed was done yesterday…As a Realtor, I am an independent contractor, so I do not have withholding taken out.  As a result, I owed an arm, a leg and my first born son, but lived to tell the tale.

It has to be done, and as Dee says above, "Life marches on"…

Oh! My Favorite
Who made any money to tax?  I didn’t work one damned day in 2008, no matter how hard I tried to get a job!

I live below…well below the poverty level. Yet, I will owe taxes because that’s what happens when you’re an artist. I think I donated four artworks this past year for various non-profits. Out of those I can claim just about nothing. You see, the law says I can’t claim my time or talent or even the price that the benefit earned for those pieces. For artists, you can only claim the price of the supplies used (and you better be able to prove it). So the next time you (those of you running non profits) run to the kind artists in your life to donate yet another work of art…think again. Go to your lawyers or your doctors who actually have money. Ask them to donate 10 hours worth of pay. They can deduct it. So, stop thinking artists can just whip up something to save your cause. Now, I have to go pay the government for allowing me to live on less than 12,000 last year.

Boy, ain’t that the truth ! I donate a full week of my time/talent to the Charity Ball and I get ……….???? OH, Thank you, we couldn’t do it without you !! While all the Doctors, Lawyers & Insurance Co’s get to hang a banner.

 ….but that’s not why I do it, I guess.

Told my husband he is not allowed to retire, EVER

EKA- I knew there had to be an artist out there that understood. I continue to donate works, but would really like it if

my country recognized artists as being a valuable asset (especially to the nonprofits) by honoring our time and talent at tax time.
