It gets them out of use and off the roads and then it leaves the owner needing another car, and even if they don’t buy U.S., we still got their clunker off the road.
Sorry, Liz, my question is "At what cost?" This was just another hasty decision by an inexperienced administration to throw money at a problem. They weren’t even prepared for the number of people who would participate in this, ran out of money, left dealerships stuck with some over$2 million in outlay and no reimbursement from the government in sight. So, the government says, "Wow, we didn’t expect this many people to participate. We’ll have to appropriate more money. We’ll get back to you soon." This is the way this administration works….by the seat of their pants.
This should be called "The Bandaid Administration."
And what would you call the Bush Administration. Crash and Burn? They wasted more money in a week in Iraq than Obama has burned through so far. Why is it, none of you were worried about debt and money when it was being burned through during Bush’s Administration. Bush handed a monster of a debt to Obama but now all I hear is how worried you Republicans are about debt. Explain that.
Linda, sorry, but your reference to the Bush administration has nothing to do with our present administration. Personally, I’ll take Bush’s deficit back anyday compared to what we are faced with now and long term…10 to 15 years out and it has only been 200 days that Obama has been office.
I am a moderate and I was concerned with what a mess Bush got us into and the continuation of that mess that Obama is creating. I didn’t vote for either of these men and saw all this coming. Bush got us in the money mess with his war and Obama will make an even bigger mess with his want to supply lazy people and illegal aliens with socialized health care that the rest of us will have to pay for dearly.
I have NO faith whatsoever that the government will do anything right with regard to health care reform. They have screwed up Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, DCFS and everything else that they put their grubby, crooked hands on.
