Liz Smith: Health Care Is a 'Surefire' Business

Liz Smith
I’d think a surefire business today would be something to do with health care. There are going to be an awful lot of old folks in America for the next 20 years and they are going to be very needy.

Liz, You took the words right out of my mouth. I was even thinking of Home Health Care for those who can’t afford ‘Assisted Living Facilities,’ and ‘Hospice’ also came to mind. Another area that came to mind was a really reliable ‘Handyman’ business. QM and I can never find just one person to come and take care of the little things around the house that we can’t or don’t want to attempt doing. CA Rose

C A Rose your ideas are right on.  Improvement on van pickup services would be a help.  Sometimes there are so many people being dropped off and picked up by one driver that people wait a long time to go home from a doctor’s office.

Nurse Practitioners

We can’t recruit as many as we need today for $75k—$125k/yr to come to rural communities and provide primary care

As med students continue to choose specialties over family practice, and the country seeks to extend coverage to more people who are now uninsured, we’re looking to NPs to take up the slack
