I work in a hospital and they offer us flu shots every year; don’t know if all employees will be offered H1N1, but if they do, I will get it.

That is, H1N1 vaccine, not the virus…

In a word, "no."

I am also allergic to the base they use in the shot. I have never had the flu shot because of this. I think I’ll be fine though. Fingers crossed.

If my insurance covers the shot (they don’t cover regular flu shots…or at least the places giving them around here don’t accept my insurance), and it doesn’t require queuing up for hours, I might get it.

I was exposed to swine flu a few weeks ago.  My poor friend was sick as a dog for days and is still coughing.  She picked it up helping her sick daughter who’s a college student.  Anyway…after spending the evening with her, riding in a car with her and sitting next to her at dinner, I did not get sick.   So…I’m hopeful I have mighty defenses.

I am supposed to get it—because of my autoimmune disease.

I already had the Regular Flu Shot.

I still have to think on it. I am always nervous with new vaccines.

I was mandated as a nurse to get the Hepatitis Vaccine years ago.

It came then in 2 injections a day apart.

Supposedly it had NO side effects.

I was healthy as a horse then and had no allergies.

One hour after this shot I was in the ER-severe headache and short of breath-so I never had the second shot. I now list that as an allergy.

I do remember one year my infection control nurse pulled me aside and told me-""don’t get the flu vaccine this year "" she told me everyone she knew that had it was sick.

So that year I passed on it and was the only one in my unit not to suffer the flu.

Really I think it is best to take these vaccines for most people,,,because of my health I am not sure yet—-hey thats if you can even get it!

I personally do not think the Government has been as out there as they should be about all this! Very serious illness headed our way!

I have already taken some precautions as far as increased hand washing -everyone in my house has a botle of Purell on them

In our bathroom we no longer have hand towerls-

-I put up a Paper towel wrack -

showed everyone how to use the paper towel to shut off the fauscet

and open the door to leave—

outside the Bathroom I have a large basket for trash.

As a diabetic - even one with great A1C levels - I feel obliged to get a flu shot every year. A bout of flu - even a severe cold - can send the tightest-controlled diabetic spiraling out of control. So this year, I’m steeling myself for not one, but two shots, because I’ve worked too darn hard on keeping myself healthy to risk it with H1N1.

The first round of vaccines has not been tested on a very large group — there is no way of knowing what the side effects are, and I’m not comfortable giving myself or my children kids the vaccine without knowing the risks.  I will get the regular flu shot if they offer it, but not the H1N1.

I got a swine flu shot back in the 70’s because I have asthma and worked on a federal installation so the shot was free. I am going to pass this time around. I don’t think it’s as much of a pandemic as the media was making it out to be and I don’t think I fall into any of the high risk groups. Maybe a high consumption of wine will be good prevention.

Pandemic simply means that it has spread to a certain number of countries in a certain amount of time.  Declaring it a pandemic has nothing to do with the severity of the disease.  The death rate for H1N1 is actually quite low less than 0.4% which is lower than seasonal flu

I got a flu shot, but will not get a H1N1 shot if they give them to my age group. I think it was rushed thru production and have read a lot of negatives re it. I work at a hospital too.

Absolutely!  If I get flu it could kill me.  No thanks!  I also would not want to spread it to others.  I work in an office where people come to work sick all the time & I will not be one of those people!

I’ve already gotten my seasonal (avian) flu shot and will be getting the H1N1 flu shot next week.  I always got the flu and have had pneumonia 7 times with 5 hospitalizations.  I’m only 40 - but since 1999 -I’ve religiously gotten the flu shot and haven’t had the flu OR pneumonia since.  It’s made a believer out of me!

My whole family (husband, two kids, me) has already had it - long before the vaccine was available.  Strong enough reaction that we shouldn’t need it.

Let’s think about this folks. Every year it’s a new flu, a new bug. Look at all the drugs for sale for the cure. Don’t you find it strange that the cure almost comes out as fast as the bug with some of them?

I do not feel that the drug comanies are above spreading a bug in order to make money selling there products! Can anyone out there prove to me that they don’t?

I do know that the drug companies do not refine there drugs today enough, and that is why there are so many side effects to taking all the new ones. Myself, I don’t trust the drug companies, or anything that has been put out in the last decade!
