wowOwow Talks About Our Executive Intern Program on the 'Today' Show (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
Executive Interns Patricia and Ann

In case you missed it, the "Today" show this morning featured a story about wowOwow’s Executive Intern program. We started the program to teach people a new skill, and in return, they shared with us their knowledge from years of experience in the publishing world.

In the clip below, you’ll meet the interns and staff, and will discover the benefits of later-in-life internships.

The program is one of our first initiatives for Think Up, a growing platform where wOw women can share their ideas on how to help others prevail during these troubling times. So no matter where you are in life (out-of-work, retired, a mother, daughter or student) we hope you find some inspiration in our internship program — and come up with your own Think Up idea.

Watch:

Our internship model has garnered attention all over – including a piece in the Los Angeles Times, an interview on National Public Radio and an upcoming story will air on "Inside Edition." For more on the Think Up initiative, click here. For more on the Executive Intern program, click here.

Wow, what a great site.  I am excited to have found wowowow this morning after watching the Today show.  I am a woman owned e-commerce furniture company.  www.eWayfurniture.com

We are not looking for unpaid interns, but more along the lines of working partner(s) that have excellent ideas, can work from home, understand great customer service, have writing and administrative skills.  Computer skills; yes we need those; ie. Photoshop, programming, Excel, etc…

We are currently working on a new comprehensive – everything about home/furniture site to include, retailers (online and bricks and mortar), manufacturers (furniture, lighting, rugs, bedding, linens, dishes etc…), installers, designers and the list goes on to bring the absolute best service, product and price to the savvy but busy consumer, much like ourselves.

You can contact me at gina@ewayfurniture.com

All I can say is YAY for wOw   \0/   …  I watched the clip on Today Friday and this morning… I have bookmarked this site as my homepage!!!!!!  I would be interested to see what ideas are out there for women that are disabled due to illness. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2001. I worked full time since I was 16 and at the age of 41 was told that I can no longer work due to my illness… I am disabled because of CD… I volunteer 4 days a week to give myself the feeling of "going to work"…  Also because it is very rewarding… I wonder if there are any opportunities for me to explore…

thx :)

This is exactly what our marketing and publishing company could wish for.  We are small and growing too rapidly, launching a book series (Girls Know How to inspire young readers to explore careers and follow their dreams) and have been seeking help.  We are caught between a rock and a hard place…we can offer the right salary to less-seasoned candidates who see us as too small; but not enough for a seasoned professional who already is making more than we can afford.  A seasoned intern (paid!) would be a welcomed breath of fresh air.  Downingtown, PA

Three cheers to W0W for being innovative and motivated to start a program like this. I am retired but didn’t stop working until 82 years last year. Oh oh there goes the age thing. I never had an internship but kept working at least part time and went to enrichment classes all along the way. This plus raising a family with a supportive husband.

I believe in continuing to learn and communicate with others as much as possible.  I was lucky in my field and I hope other companies will follow your lead.

Bravo on a great idea !  I saw the Today show segment and was impressed by the great opportunity you are giving your interns.

I have a law practice and am now thinking maybe there is a way I can implement my own intern program and help someone update their office skills.

I wish more companies were willing to step out of the box and hire us "seasoned" people who bring loads of experience, ideas and a willingness to learn. I was already a fan of the website before the Today segment aired but am even more of one now. Keep up the good work.

I have seen the piece on tv which is great for women with savings and a husband. I can’t afford to work for free or a stipend. I need a job. Creditors are not being paid, my verizon bill is in default and in collection. I’ve been ducking verizon’s telephone calls pretending to be someonelse when they call. I need a job. Want to help? Hire me; (Cleaner/ Political Campaign Worker/ Security Guard/ Customer Service)

Kudos for spotlighting interns – whatever the age they rock!! At Cole Communications (www.jcolecomm.com) we’ve benefited from interns for years - from college kids to boomer moms staying involved and learning new skills.  Anyone out there interested in working at a boutique PR firm in the Flatiron District with top-drawer clients and a reputation for creativity and results please contact me Joanne Cole, founder, at joanne@jcolecomm.com

As a 60+ grandmother who recently obtained permanent custody of my two grandchildren - Katie 6 and Nate 13 - I would love information on finding an internship  for a local company that wouild value and appreciate my age and experience!  I worked fulltime for ten years in retail until my grandkids came to live with me, and they still remain my first priority, but I do say I miss the joy I shared with my former clients and creative opportunities!
