Of course. As an artist you would find that interesting!! What is your work like? Paint? Sculpt?

The DMA in December. Oh for another Caro to Monet, but there is no perspective possible like that in the Orsay - no museum has the space! I used to “hit” the Toledo and Detroit Institute of Arts as much as possible, too (and of course everything in NYC, and DC), but such trips are limited now so I’m thankful for the Internet, for yet another part of that which feeds the soul.

Tucson (AZ) Museum of Art currently has a Maynard Dixon exhibit- “A Place of Refuge”. Sketches and paintings from his travels in Arizona and from when he lived here in Tucson. A lot of the pieces are privately owned and the exhibit is not going to travel so I felt especially lucky to see it. We are members at Tohono Chul Park which is a botanic garden and has a small exhibt hall with a wide variety of art shows- all regionally themed. The gift shops in the museums are always great places to visit also. Another way to see good art and be able to afford it is to go on open studio tours. We always hit the local tour, and have been to Apache Junction and Bisbee AZ, as well as Lincoln County, New Mexico for their studio tours. The artists are friendly and love to talk about their art. It’s not the same as going to big museums, but it is much more approachable and so fascinating talking to the artists. I used to live in Stockton, Calif and there was a park with an art gallery, the Haggin Museum in Victory Park. It’s a small museum but has some great Bierstadt paintings of Yosemite.
