One of the greatest uses of Botox are the treatments my mother receives every three months for her Dystonia (part of Essential Tremors). It is the uncontrollable nodding of the head up and down in a ‘yes’ pattern accompanied by uncontrollable teeth chattering. She receives Botox injections from a Neuro Dr who specializes in dystonia. They are injected in the back of her neck and by the time she gets home from the doctor’s office the symptoms are arrested for about three months. Now isn’t that a miracle? I sure think it is!

Sure sounds like one to me. As I said at the beginning of this thread, I would consider Botox if I thought it would really stop my head pains. There are some things that make trying something like this worthwhile. Glad it is helping her. After I read the price and that it would not be covered by insurance for my situation I figured it is not something I will be trying.

S-54, It is definitely worth it for my mom. If you have your Neuro Doc diagnose your symptoms as ‘Dystonia’, it is covered by Medicare (Medicare Advantage Plan). I think mom’s co-pay is around $156 for a $1500 treatment that lasts for three months. Sorry, that I just assumed you are on Medicare…I have been on SSDI w/Medicare for 19 years so my brain only runs in that direction. You may want to see if your insurance covers Botox treatment for Dystonia. Good Luck!
