If you––whoever you may be––when writing this fascinating fluff would please use the correct King’s English: On the Heather Mill’s–––it’s between her and Britain’s beloved… not between “she.” Thanks.
I believe, Phillis, that you have made the most interesting comment that can be said here. It was, in my opinion, a relatively low bar, but you did manage to raise it to the level of that sardonic wit I admire so much.
I think you mean the Queen’s English. You’re right, Phyl…the pronoun is the object of the preposition “between”, therefore it takes the objective case, “her”, as opposed to the subjective case, “she”. One of the biggest misnomers by would-be English snobs occurs when they say, “Just between you and I”. The proper phrase, of course, is “Just between you and me,” for the same reason stated above.
Thank you James, but I did mean Kings. Do you notice that some of our many bloviators on these dreary talk shows use “I” instead of “me”–drives me up the wall––––”So for Jamie and I, we wish you a happy weekend.”
Dr. Klein, you as I say, “a conundrum warped in an enigma”. Not meant to be offensive, your comments just make me smile. In the terms of creating an equalibrium I give you props, sir.
