I remember as a girl not being able to contain my joy when “Look” mag came in the mail. It was my first pictorial, to the outside world and all it’s wonder! Also, love Jane for all the fashion best buys and where to locate.

I was a kid, but I liked Mirabella and Lear. They helped shape my style as I was pretty impressionable at the time. I love Vogue, but that came after.

A favorite magazine of mine - Home - just went under,and I’m getting Elle Decor until my subscription expires. Funny, but some great magazines are hurting, even disappearing, yet there seems to be a lot of these celebrity sort of magazines appearing now.

Yep, me too. I was so upset when it folded. And, now to have it back! I love the articles! Last year I went, with a couple of friends, to a really beautiful resort they featured. There were women from around the US and a couple of gals from Canada. Lots of fun.

Sandbee-for some reason when I hear “women’s magazine” that’s the first one that comes to mind and then Lear’s magazine.

Happy to say MS Magazine is still around. It’s been a quarterly for many years. They never have accepted commercial advertising. Go to www.msmagazine.com to subscribe. Gloria Steinem and others would appreciate it!

I know it’s still around but it isn’t in this listing of Women’s Magazines. Unfortunately, not buying magazines, newspapers and more books was one of my ways of cutting down on expenses this year. As my subscriptions expire, I have not been renewing and just reading what’s available at the Library. In the past, I spend way too much on periodicals and books with no space to keep them and no excuse for the spending that kind of money in these tough financial times. Recently. I tallied up the cost of some books I was tempted to buy at a discount book bin vs. the money spent on my groceries-$37.00 for groceries and $80.00. I left the books on the shelf.

JJ, Like you, I have been letting my subscriptions expire. I do find that some of the information I was getting in print is available online. As for books, for a while I budgeted a monthly amount for a service called booksfree.com which was like a lending library, and I was able to borrow books that I could not find in my local small town library. Now I just content myself with re-reading the ones I can find at my library.

At least here, Walden Books is closing and adding another 25% off to their books, and up to 75% on current publications (calendars, etc). I bought one of Barack Obama’s there, plenty for grandchildren, and some others for friends, too. Just a tip. I think reading online is a big help, too. I’d prefer to not be “at the computer” so working on making my TVs act as computer monitor, and also my CPU produce my music (better sound anyway). I need a “handy man” (or at least a “handy person”). Any one interested? I have extra bedrooms! ;-))

Eileen T, MS used to accept ads but the 2nd go’round, Gloria cut them out because of the sponsors editorializing content (to skew every word to their products). BRAVO. We totally supported her in that move. Time to get back into the fold, IMHO. Perhaps Gloria will help some of us working on a museum and more for our suffragettes - it’s way past time, sisters.
