We have known that our oil supply is limited and that burning gas causes problems to the environment for many years. Anyone who only found this out recently either, wasn’t paying attention or didn’t care to pay attention. I don’t buy it that anyone driving gas guzzlers bought them before our consciousness was raised.

Yes, the youth-for-cash….lol..,.I just die my hair red and let the rest age naturally. As for Madonna, I welcome her to real life of fifty and beyond. I may not have always been a fan of her music, but I have always been a fan of her outspoken ways and uninhibited behavior….and have watched her change over the years, but she has always kept that strength. I know some don’t think of it that way. But I like a woman who speaks her mind and does what she wants. The older I get the more I appreciate it…and the more I myself say..lol.. so Happy Birthday to Madonna! (and don’t be afraid of a few wrinkles)

How’d she get to be 50? The last time paid any attention to her she was 25 and I was …………….. Oh, on second thought, nevermind. August 16th is also of note in that’s the day Elvis died.

I turned 50 this year!—I thought 30 was bad! I was so upset about it I felt foolish. The night of my 50th B-day I woke up at 2 am in pain-called an ambulance=hospital=heart attack-TRIPLE BY PASS surgery!!!!! I never saw my 50th I was ”under the knife” No cake-no friends -no gifts- WELL OK its true got the gift of ”life” for my 50th! Surgeon said I would not be here if I didn’t wake up that night my heart was 98% occluded! It has been 5 months now and I am recovering just fine. HEY WHOOPIE—I QUIT SMOKING!!!!! if you ever talked to my friends they would tell you I could NEVER EVER do it —but I DID— from 2 packs to zip- ON MY 50TH BIRTHDAY as well……LOL…. something about the sheer pain of having 3 chest tubes removed flashes before me if I even think about it (ouchy) I am here because of whoopie too she feels like an old friend to me, as I grew up with her comedy-her shows-movies etc… I WILL NOT fly in an airplane- hate bras- love to collect gem stones and Peter O”Toole How weird is that??? If I had my choice of who I could ever go to dinner with it would be her!/ Thanks for letting me join this new group………….Lynn

I don’t think that any of us that use makeup, hair dye, polish, support bras, etc. can say anything about what another woman does. I can tell you, if I had the money and wasn’t so hung up on the pain of it, I would have several things done. While I have been blessed with good genes, at 62 there is nothing I wouldn’t do to get rid of the wrinkles around my mouth that use to be big dimples. (Except go under the knife - because I am chicken) Wasn’t it Candice that said ‘we are too hard on each other’? Have to admit that I don’t like the after looks of most of the face lifts that I have seen. This I wouldn’t do because it looks so plastic. If Madonna has a few nips and tucks or not, she still looks great and is an ace performer.

Madonna calls attention to herself in an unladylike sort of way. No “salute” from me.

In a celebrity crazed world I only say this. Who cares if it is Madonna’s birthday ?

Who cares? Madonna, her family, her friends, and all us nosey ol’ broads that like to compare ages of other women.

Hi Liz,

Hope that’s alright? anyway, I’d like to thank you for being so nice to madonna, I get the creeps when I read the muck being said to and about her. I was beginning to think that journalists were a bunch of creeps too, as if the disgusting things being thrown at the lady in various blogs( including her own!!!!) You have given me a new faith in the human race. The lady certainly seems to have her rugged side, but she is anything but bad by any means. Look at the pictures of her where she is obviously happy, the sun shines out of her eyes and face. Other pictures show the hurt too, so she is not hard, just has to play it to survive. Trouble is, that it’s a game that can run off with you without you noticing it till it’s almost too late. I would love to get her personal email address, but no luck anymore. I had it once about five years ago, but lost it in a pc collapse. I’d like to send the occassional message just for her, with no creeps latching on to spoil things. Anyway, I’m with you in your birthday wishes for her, I think she’s great.

Greetings willie11
