The Obama Daughters' Most Adorable Fashions (Photos)

Sasha and Malia Obama have captured our hearts with their innocently beautiful style

Photo Essay

Their mother’s one of the most stylish women in the nation, but this photo essay proves that Sasha and Malia — 10 and 7, respectively — are equally resplendent in their heart-melting and adorable dresses and ensembles.

Anywhere you find them, the First Daughters are well on their way to becoming the youngest fashion icons the country’s ever seen.

It would be great if their age appropriate and modest clothing styles would catch on for all young girls and young women in America. I’m tired of seeing a lot of girls and young women dress like sluts, because Hollywood models it. Those girls would be fine role models.

These girls are beautiful and it’s obvious they are loved by two great parents. If we’re lucky, they’ll grow up to be Republicans! :-)

They are so sweet! So full of joy with big smiles. Charming little people.

Beth, I agree with you that it is refreshing to see two well groomed girls dressed in age-appropriate outfits, rather than little Britney Spears wanna-be’s. A role model family.

It is refreshing to see them dressed like normal kids - I have an 11 year old - and this is the way she and her friends dress - they love the longer tops - not the belly-baring ones we saw a few years ago - the leggings and comfortable clothes - looks great on them as well as most girls 7 - 14 years old. I agree that the world will enojoy watching and again - from a distance, I hope - though I have to admit I would love to to be a fly on the wall to see through their eyes, the first days in the White House, watching this wonderful new era in America begin - we are so blessed to have this occur in our lifetime!!!!!! My business is tanking -yet I feel positive -wonder why!!!!!

After having observed them in a variety of settings, I have the same conclusion. They are GREAT kids! I see the oldest one as a real challenge to Barack. I have noticed her letting him know when he “did good!” or, if he made any mistakes it seems she let him know it - gently, of course. The youngest, looks more like Barack, but seems less interested in whatever he is saying, or doing. I suppose it’s the age thing… I have to laugh though, as I watch Malia (oldest) letting him know he did it right, afterall! It cracks me up to watch her with him.

Why all this hype? You’re building these girls up for a crash landing. They’re cute and remarkably composed amidst all the inaurgural glitterai. Which is saying a lot and honestly. As well as an image they can live up to because it’s earned. But to pretend that these kids will waltz through this White House experience and escape bratiness, as the Bush girls have, is taking a lot for granted. Caroline Kennedy certainly didn’t. She used to show up at the local ice cream parlor, take an impatient hissy fit with the long line and demand she be taken out of turn by croaking “Do you know who I am?” And to elevate the Obama childrens images by falsely describing their mother as “one of the most stylish women in the nation” is an absurd lie. On any given afternoon you can walk into any upscale New York restaurant during luncheon and see untold numbers of truly stylish women. And if Michelle had common sense at all of appropriate attire she’d never have approved the neckline of Sasha’s dress depicted in the photo essay. It’s certainly not “resplendent,” nor “heart-melting,” nor “adorable”. It’s entirely age inappropriate. And shockingly suggestive on a ten-year-old. Doesn’t matter she still has no bosom. It’s the drawing of attention from her piquant features to her anatomy that’s all wrong. Children usually play act little girl grown up mimicry in the protected environment of one’s home. Seen on the world stage these glossy colored photos command, among worldwide curiosity, the lascivious attention of stalking perverts.. A disservice is forced on these kids plying them with false hype and depriving them of the sincere admiration they rightfully deserve. They behaved remarkably well under challenging conditions. Which in itself is quite an accomplishment. Hype, when it doesn’t match the attributes of its adult target is only plain silly. But when its smeared on children, it can be dangerously vulgar. Pray that the Lord watches over them during this Presidential journey forever marking the character and quality of their lives.

Sorry Andromeda, if my “Pray that the Lord” reference is offensive to you.

I would like to know why the President and First Lady have choosen to dress Sasha in a manner to old for her age.  It may be cute as a 10 yr old, But in 3 years when she is starting to mature, is that they way they want her to dress, in a way that will attract attention to her body and not to her.  I for one am tired of seeing children dressed inappropriatly for their age.  Remember they are children, they should dress that way.
