Great video! Thank you! Ever since I read the book, Dreams from My Father, I wanted to take a look at some photos of the family and their home there.

I’m not a Cokie (Kooky) Roberts fan either, but I’ve heard that her book about the Founding Mothers is good. Moving forward a century or so, Eleanor Clift’s book “Founding Sisters” is excellent. It’s about the fight for women’s right to vote. Unbelievable what those women went through. None of us should ever skip a vote!

Again DeBúrca obj, I agree with you. I also liked Lady Bird Johnson. I love to see the wild flowers she made sure would adorn and garnish the American highways,( amongst other good things she did). P.S. I have been notified that your “book” recommendation is in the mail, and should be arriving in my snowbound country mail box any day now. Just can’t wait to read it. Will advise further, later.

Great list. Great reasons. I’d add Abigail Adams. She kept John sane. And she warned him, when he and his comrades were drafting the constitution, to “remember the ladies or we will forment a rebellion.” And we did!

I couldn’t find the photo credit/captions, so I’m guessing that is Madame Chiang Kai-shek in the photo with Eleanor Roosevelt. Correct?

Good question. I was wondering that too.

It is Madame Chiang Kai-shek. I found the same photo that wOw used in the photo essay: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soong_May-ling

I’m currently reading “The Letters of Eleanor and Anna Roosevelt: Mother and Daughter.” In one of her letters to Anna, Eleanor tells her how much she likes Madame Chiang but adds “Pa is a little afraid of her.” Fascinating!
