AirFrance Crash Update: Report of Bomb Threat on Another Flight, No Hopes of Survivors (Video)

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of passengers of AirFrance Flight 447.
While there’s news out today that the Airbus 330 that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean this week may have stalled after pilots slowed down as they hit storm turbulence, Brazilian officials say it’s highly unlikely any sort of explosion caused the presumed demise of the 228 passengers and crew — including two Americans — aboard. After finding debris and an oil slick, ships continue to look for more signs of wreckage — particularly the vital voice and data recorder — in order to uncover more clues about the cause of this horrific tragedy. In a new twist of events, police told CNN Wednesday that AirFrance received a bomb threat May 27 for a flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Paris, but a security check found nothing on that flight.
Investigators have said they will continue the search so the families of those aboard can at least have some answers.

I’m wondering if lightning struck the plane. I have been in a plane when we encountered severe weather, heavy rain, with lightning dancing everywhere, lighting up the late night sky. The co captain’s calm and reassuring voice was helpful, but I could hear people praying. It was very stressful. There was a collective sigh of relief when we saw the runway lights.
Like SG, I hope the families get their answers soon. The thoughts going through their minds must be unbearable.
Chrome… thanks so much for that information. I have been worried ( since that harrowing experience I mentioned) that I would go through that worry again. Now that I think about it, of course it makes sense. It’s unlikely planes would be designed without taking lightning strikes into consideration.
An aside… my dad was struck by lightning years ago while walking to his truck. It was ground spill lightning, so it entered through the bottom of his boot and exited through his shoulder. Small wonder it did not kill him, but it did knock him out cold and left a burn in the bottom of his foot for many weeks.
