Almost Half of Nation Views Limbaugh 'Very, Very Negatively'

The nation doesn’t have a very high opinion of Rush Limbaugh — or his opinions

It’s incredible that Rush Limbaugh’s radio show is so successful, because apparently the majority of America can’t stand the guy.

Democracy Corp, which was founded by Democratic strategists James Carville and Stanley Greenberg, released a survey today that shows 45 percent of people say they view Limbaugh "very, very negatively." Limbaugh’s opinions, which are broadcast across the world and frequently dissected in the news, are also underperforming among the public, with 57 percent of those tallied saying his values don’t reflect their own.

Via Democracy Corp:

Voters view Limbaugh negatively by a two-to-one ratio (53 to 26 percent), with nearly half the country, 45 percent, viewing him very, very negatively. Among independents, the ratio rises to three-to-one. More important are the values that Limbaugh espouses. By a nearly two-to-one ratio (57 to 32 percent) a majority of voters – and independents – say Limbaugh does not “share their values,” but Republicans are in a different world where, by two-to-one, they believe he shares them.

Meanwhile, a whopping 49 percent of people think Rush has too much power over the Republican Party. Taken together, the data leads Democracy Corp to conclude: "With Rush Limbaugh’s vision and values so strong among the conservative Republicans who are the heart of the party’s base, Republican leaders carry a heavy weight when they attempt to position themselves to act for the broader electorate."

If I were a Republican in office, I sure wouldn’t want this guy as my spokesman. Can’t believe people actually pay to hear him spout his hatefulness. But, freedom of speech is what America stands for. At least we are free not to listen to him as well.

Liz, wake up honey. Its a fact you don’t listen to Limbaugh.

Have you ever ask yourself why the Obama’s White House is making a big deal of Limbaugh?

But since you don’t listen to him you fail to get why Carville and Emmanuel is targeting Limbaugh.

Limbaugh has been on the air for over 20 years. Obama is 47 years old. You do the math.

Why now with Limbaugh, well Bush and Cheney is gone.

Limbaugh is telling America about all that is not right with the White House.

Limbaugh is an entertainer — he gets paid to do what he does.

Some people enjoy his style, mostly men I would guess.  He doesn’t appeal to me and I never listen to him.

Hi! Marg C. Limbaugh is an entertainer. Limbaugh is a very passionate person about his beliefs and his conservativism.

Limbaugh runs a business. With that said, he has done way more than Obama has ever done!

54% of the voting public elected a man who has ever had a job!

Re Limbaugh: Limbaugh isn’t that popular, 20 million of 300 million is less than 7%. That is his choir. Lots of us think he is a goofy curiosity and wonder what the fuss is about. The man couldn’t be elected to anything except chief loudmouth.

Radio numbers are different than tv numbers — those 20 million count the same listener multiple times.

I don’t know how they count the numbers, but my husband and I were discussing this and he said that when you go into wood shops, auto shops and a few other industrial areas, you can always hear Limbaugh on in the background.  Do they count the radios tuned in, like they do with TV?  I don’t know if that is possible.  Anyway in those shops, one radio may be on but many people are listening.  As a rule I don’t listen to him, but he is not all wrong, he has a savvy take on politics.

Hi Frannie……yes, it is possible — that’s why radio stations want to be your "office" station.   While I don’t think many offices would allow Limbaugh to be the office station — I bet you are right about the auto shops, etc……..plus a lot of sales guys on the road in the boondocks listen to him for entertainment.   Everyone sees savvy differently, I suppose — I see him as quite the opposite of savvy.

Aside from the fact that this is such a joke………if you were going to march and call out the usurper………shouldn’t this have been addressed when Obama was a CANDIDATE, before he WAS ELECTED BY A OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE and took the oath of office?     Seems like a pattern is emerging of the right wing just always being behind the curve — always reacting, never being proactive……………

Don’t forget what a mess the dems were in during and after the Kerry/Bush election.  All you heard from all of the talking heads was what happened, the dems are a mess, they are fighting amongst themselves and on and on.  What changed it were sites like MoveOn, Huffington Post, Media Matters, Daily Kos and many more that began a concerted slam on anything republican.  They deserved it where there was corruption and ethics violations, and the fact that they spent so much.  The problem now is (and I understand that many may not see it this way), those sites don’t go after corrupt democrats or expose where dems are screwing up.  They have also presented the picture that repubs are evil, hypocritical and greedy, when many of the bad Wall Street and banking actors that brought down this economy, were democrats.  They don’t go into that, and that is frightening to me, not because I believe one side is better than the other - I don’t, but because of the destruction to our democratic process.  To me, preserving and perpetuating the principles of our democracy, is more important than all the partisanship.

The parties are like two religions each acting like their views are the original truth, or the only path to get to the promised land.  I don’t worship at the altar of either, vote both ways, am more fiscal conservative, but socially liberal.  Trust me, it is hard to fit in with such partisanship.

This article may interest you.  Although they say that the WH is not involved, the calls go into the WH.  If I call the WH would I get such good treatment?  I think this is how Rahm helped to win the WH and Congress for the dems.  He is a smart operative, but what is it doing for the democratic process if these groups have more influence than the rest of us?

The 8 years of Bush presidency were a total disaster for this country…….not only did the Republican policies of deregulation and tax cuts destroy our economy.   His lies got us into a uselesswar that has killed and ruined the lives of thousands of Americans,  No one had to make anything up to deride his policies and actions.

That’s right, Paul.  If you look up blowhard in the dictionary, you find a photo of Limbaugh.

Peace and grace
