Alysha Castonguay's Maxim Shoot OK, But Carrie Prejean's Pics Are Not?
Miss California Carrie Prejean may lose her crown after a website posted semi-nude pictures of the beauty queen, yet no one seems so riled over suggestive pictures of Alysha Castonguay, Miss Rhode Island, that appeared in the men’s magazine Maxim.
Castonguay posed for the magazine before her pageant competition and, to ensure she didn’t find herself embroiled in a scandal, showed them to pageant officials herself, Fox News reports. They approved them.
Asked about the Prejean controversy, Castonguay said she thinks people are targeting Miss California because of her controversial response to a question about gay marriage: Prejean said she thought nuptials should remain between a man and a woman, an answer that sparked a firestorm across the Internet.
What do you think, reader? Is this a double standard at play?

The real issue here is what did these guys do about that dumb judge that posted a horrific rant about this young lady? In the end Donald Trump will have the final say in what happens to Carrie and he is loving the publicity! She is entitiled to her opinion and that question never should have been asked. Besides, what is wrong with everyone being allowed civil marrages and leave the Churches out of it. This is going to open up a whole can of worms - Like the Mormons for example - and there MANY children are involved with men who marry how many women at one time? Leave Carrie alone - they are only making themselves look very bad.
Canuck,
I do get behind her right to say what she said. That’s her opinion, and—as far as I’ve seen—she hasn’t spouted too much in the way of hateful insults, or crap about "protecting marriage," as if any solid marriage needs protection from me and my sweetie. Even still, it’s a person’s right to speak his or her mind. But there are other issues here. Prejean, according to pageant officiials, is too busy with anti-gay-marriage activities and groups to fulfill her contractual obligations as a pageant representative. That is a valid point. Also a valid point is her non-disclosure, as opposed to Ms. Rhode Island’s full disclosure. It’s simply a matter of integrity. And that is SOOOOOOO important in a pageant where women apply Vaseline to their teeth to affect a wide smile, spray hair spray on their butts to prevent their swimsuits from riding up, apply Preparation H under their eyes, and any number of other phony maneuvers to create a flawless image of physical beauty.
HA BIBI —-Great — Good for her - I just won $5.00 from my next door neighbor. We were discussing it last night as we were pondering what we were going to do with the holes in the yard. It appears a very industrious armadillo has been digging up lawns up and down the street. I have a feeling that "Arney the Armadillo’s" days are numbered.
Back to Carrie — this is a victory. So there Perez!!!
Yes Canuck…more than one can of worms…
Everyone KNOWS that this is ALL about her comments. Anyone who claims otherwise is a coward and disingenouos. Perhaps the most justifiable reason to take her crown, would be the time that she has taken away from pageant responsiblilties because of this media controversy.
It seems to me that if she has not honored her pageant responsibilities because she has become a spokesperson for traditional marriage….they have a good reason.
Carrie Prejean’s photos are no worse than those of Alysha Castonguay. The difference is that Alysha gave full disclosure before the pagent, the pictures were approved, and she was given permission to participate.
Alysha’s photos were published, so maybe that is the difference as far as what both of these women thought about disclosure. Alysha’s were not a secret, were not taken when she was a minor and done in a photo spread in a men’s magazine to which the the public had access.
For some reason Carrie must have hoped that hers would never be made public. She did make reference to only being 17 when that photo shoot was done, so maybe she thought that would keep those from being revealed.
Pagent history has proved this kind of false security as a mistake. They could hardly wait until the crown was barely placed upon Vanessa Williams’ head before they published her photos.
They intended to railroad Ms. Willliams but she proved to be too stong and too special of a woman to hold back. Maybe Carrie can turn this for the good like Ms. Williams did whether she is allowed to keep her crown or not.
