Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit

By Ann Coulter
© AP
Editor’s Note: Ann Coulter is a political commentator, syndicated columnist and bestselling author. Her latest book is Guilty: Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America.

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was.  Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too  big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

Now why doesn’t Ann Coulter explain her own exit…?

The Washington has beens and wanna be’s just can’t quite believe that Palin took away their sitting target. How dare she do the unexpected and ruin their blood lust attack on a woman. Out foxed by a foxy politician…boy are they pissed!

Good for her…she controlled the only thing that she does have control of…herself. I approve of her move, her family didn’t deserve the pain and Alaska deserves the full time attention of their Governor.

And Ann….as always…you nailed it to the wall with one hit.

Obama just can’t fight fair…but then, he is what he learned to be. Hopefully, Palin will continue to inspire others with her sense of family and country and enjoy some personal time that she richly deserves.

They only thought that they had Palin where they wanted her…..

You’re absolutely right. I just don’t get the connection. Why not? Because there’s none. This is nothing more than a smoke screen. A failed attempt to distract from the real  reasons for her abrupt departure.

Dona: Wouldn’t matter if we were discussing how to plant pole beans, certain posters will bring Obama into everything. You gotta love them for their tenacity, though, tired as that gets.

Hey Phyllis,

Love them for their tenacity………..don’t think so………..Love them because they are a child of God, that I would agree with.  I try to love everyone……….but I LIKE special people.

I get discouraged with people that are so set in stone that they are not even willing to advance in their

thinking at all………….nothing more sad then to hear someone say "That’s the way I am and will always be"

My goodness, I hope ever day of my life I can learn something new. I don’t want to be like the proverbial dog who wont

let go of the rag even if it means pulling his teeth out…………..(I am not calling anyone a dog……..so don’t comeback and accuse me of that………..)

Pecisely!!! It would seem that the Obama haters feel that everything and anything is his doing, his fault. How sad for them.

Noooooooo how sad for those that were used and lied to by Obama. You will be his government servants and he and his buddies, the giant corporations will take control of the American economy. You will have handed him all that he needs to have a seat at the table of the New World Order.

And you will be under the authority of a European council and America will be but a memory.

"Obama just can’t fight fair…"  Excuse me, WHAT??? I’ve been paying pretty close attention for the last 4 months since President Obama took office, and I just can’t remember a single negative thing I’ve heard him say about Sarah Palin. For that matter, I don’t think he’s mentioned her at all, nor has he probably given her a single thought. You and your fellow Sarah lovers have raised this mystical Sarah up onto this pedestal where you’ve turned her into some imagined super goddess. I don’t care much for Ann Coulter, but this time I believe she’s right, and comments like yours just prove her case. Politicians with no power tend to fade away. I think the real reason she resigned is because she doesn’t make enough money as governor of Alaska to pay her legal fees, and she needs a much better paying job. I guarantee we’ll be seeing her on some cable show gig in the near future. On Fox perhaps?

Well Nanny…you need to pay closer attention then…because Obama has his bought and paid for media doing his dirty work. Really now…you know just a bit more than what you are letting on here…yes?

Let’s get this straight as well…a "Sarah lover" I am not. I respect the woman for her spirit, her passion and her genuine love of country. "Super goddess", no…not that one either, however she sure has put most of the other Washington hags to shame with her looks, ability to motivate and youthful energy.

As Ann wrote…the real reason she resigned is just the reasons Palin herself said; Because of all of the unwarranted legal trouble, her position as Governor was being strained. Her family was being put through hell and the costs to defend herself were costing the state as well as their family too much money.

She just outsmarted the Washington elite and pulled the target away from them. I sure hope that she is front and center somewhere that she has a chance to motivate the public. I also hope that she gets paid a boat load of money to do so, that would be a win-win for all.

Until then, I hope that she gets some time alone with her family. Oh..and if she got a chance to tune in today and watch all of the talking heads losing their minds trying to figure out what she’s up to…I hope she laughed her butt off….

Hi, Kelly,

Another old saying, "He who laughs last, laughs best."

Bet Palin will be ROTFLHAO when all is said and done.
