Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.
Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.
Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.
It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.
She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

Oh Jennifer…."they" will make her a target, regardless. Just as your post attempted to do, but it matters not, Palin has taken control of her life and "they" just can’t take it….
But…thanks for your informative post.
If Ann would exit, I’d be happy with out an explaination!
It is interesting that AC thinks she has to come to Palin’s defense, and speak for her. Actually, I don’t know much about AC, but having heard Palin ad nauseum, she does need a mentor, rather an advocate.
I’m interested in her sentence, "she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama)." I know the former well enough, and at no time was he considered a "national star," nor has he ever been "sought after" even while president, even by his former friends.
Palin’s like a bad penny. I really thought perhaps she was expecting again - which is great (travel seems to "do" that). It certainly is a good thing that of the loud voices they are few in number.
Methinks she’s framing herself for the Independent Party votes. Watch her step out of the Republican Party.
The woman has always appeared underexposed to live, and rather desperate. At the same time, I would not want any one taging me, and that is precisely what she’ll need to even sign on for candidacy consideration.
Sarah Palin Declares Her Independence
Once the hunted, Sarah Palin becomes the hunter.
Sarah stunned the world Friday by doing something that isn’t done. She is willfully giving up one of the most powerful positions a politician can aspire to. She is stepping down as Governor of one of the most important states in America.
The media elites were stunned. It was almost hilarious watching their reactions of disbelief. Their commentary was downright entertaining, and further proof that they don’t have a clue. Even those on Fox!
And the symbolism of doing this on the 4th of July holiday, the time we celebrate our nation’s birth, and our independence, was completely lost on the whole lot!
Almost universally, no one in the elite media got it. This is a huge comment on why our nation is in deep, deep trouble. One reporter on Fox, who has covered Sarah since she became Governor, went so far to say that her speech was "rambling", and "incoherent." Again, this just proves that even the media we most trust for news doesn’t a clue about real Americans.
Sarah Palin sounded just like us! We, the people, understood every single word she said. This is the reason she is wildly popular in the first place. She IS one of us!
Of course, just as universally silly as the commenters are, the pundits are even more clueless. And, evidently, devoid of any and all abilities of comprehension, be it for the written word, or spoken. We’ll get to the speech itself in due time, but suffice it to say, that for normal Americans, those who this speech was aimed at, this was a call to action.
Now the talking heads all agree that Sarah is done.
No chance of ever being anything again.
Certainly no chance of ever being President. Some say this was political suicide. Well, it won’t be the first time Sarah has committed "political suicide."

Sarah Palin is not qualified to be VP or President. This became evident when over 50% if the American people voted
for Obama.
She might be a good talk show host, but that’s about all.
Mimi, sister girl….just a bit of overspeak there? "Everyone in the lower 48 is ready to see and hear more from Palin"? Now honey bunny if that were true… Barbie and the Stud would be residing somewhere in a Virginia suburb commuting to the White House to sit at the right hand of John McCain. "Everyone" would have elected the Republican Presidential ticket. Now I might be wrong, but I thought those liar/poseurs were sent packing on November 4, 2008?
Barbie did capture the hearts of the racist right wring grassroot Republican blue collar voters for sure, and she has them wrapped around her little stiletto heel. But Mimi, sister girl…that group won’t get her to the primary in 2010…she now has to engage moderate Republicans, who require an ability to speak the King’s english in complete sentences. We need to see just how quickly Barbie’ learning can curve….And all of yall better be prepared for The Stud to be showing up in her absence…not sure she likes to leave home too often…unless of course somebody is willing to allocate some per diem monies…
RE: paragraph 2: Really? Why not? Every other Governor does….
Mimi: I am in the lower 48, and to be honest….I am not anxious to see more and hear more…..I am up to my neck in the SBS/Palin embezzlement scandal right now….sooner than later will be the Federal Indictment—-which Sarah was informed would happen……coincidently—just about the time she decided to step down as the governor…..stange how that happened, isn;t it?
