Ashley Biden Drug Scandal | 03/30/2009 9:30 am

Ashley Biden, the VP's Daughter, in Cocaine Scandal (Update)

You would think that people in the public eye would stay away from drug parties that are being recorded on video for posterity or future sale. But Ashley Biden, the daughter of Vice President Joe Biden, may not have gotten the memo.

An acquaintance of the 27-year-old claims to have a video of Ms. Biden snorting cocaine at a party. A 43-minute tape that allegedly shows the vice president’s daughter doing the drug has been offered for sale though a DC lawyer.

Snippets of the tape have been viewed by several media outlets, including the New York Post and Radaronline.com, which report that the footage shows her snorting several lines of the powder while at a party and, at another point, shouting "Shut the f*** up!" She also allegedly jokes that the lines of coke aren’t big enough. So far no one has bought the tape — the Post says the price is $400,000; Radaronline says it would have cost them $250,000 — but the damage is done.

The video is said to have been shot this year and those who have seen it say the camera did not appear to be concealed. If it is Ashley Biden, a social worker for the state of Delaware, that makes us wonder just how foolish (or high) she could have been.

UPDATE: The lawyer who was helping Ms. Biden’s "friend" has dropped the client, according to Huffington Post. We’re sure Biden - and the White House - are breathing a sigh of relief.

Oh my.   Illegal drugs.    Joe Biden’s daughter.   This should be an interesting thread today.

Hmm…I remember all the photos of Bush’s daughters when they just started school and were out partying…if this really is Biden’s daughter, I wonder if we’ll see equal coverage. Hmm…

Rachel:  Bush’s daughters

#1.  Bush is no longer president.

#2.  Biden’s daughter is 27 years old.  I hope this story isn’t true, but if it is, she’s probably been at it for 10 years.

#3.  It really has nothing to do with Joe Biden…  parents have little control over thier adult children.

Majorie, I agree absolutely. My point was that the Bush girls (as very young women) were dragged through the mud for doing what most college freshman do; will the same happen to the older, more mature (??) Ms. Biden for taking cocaine (if it is her)?

I agree that it has nothing to do with Biden as kids are responsible for their own actions. But leftists seem to be of a different opinion (at least when talking about Republican kids and their parents), so I’m wondering if they’re going to change their minds suddenly.

Remember all those slining mud at palin—saying she hung out with druggies due to Levi’s mother!  and I remember someone posting on here that Sarah should stay at home and tend to her kids!

Ha!  When do you think Ashley’s drug problem started?  So, Joe should have quit his job and stayed at home to tend his kids?  just making a camparison.

I don’t remember them being dragged through the mud…I do remember their underage drinking was reported in the press, as this story is being reported.

Really? I haven’t seen this story get much press coverage; it’s mentioned occasionally, but not much and not by many. And, it seemed, the press had nothing else to do but talk about the Bush girls during that time.

Except I believe the Bush twins, or one of them, was actually charged with underage drinking. This on the other hand is an unproven allegation and until such time as she is charged should be considered rumor at best.

I agree with you.   Seems to me they were not dragged through anything, but just that it showed them drinking.   I also agree that as adults our children should be held accoountable for thier own behavior.   I am sure that VP Joe Biden is mostly likely very embarrassed his daughter would behave this way.   For me, my kid, no matter how old, would a whole lot of crap from me.

Sorry, Kim-that dog won’t hunt.  We have spent hrs on here discussing Levi Johnson’s mother.  So now that the precedent was set—let’s BRING IT ON!

A poster here said Sarah should have stayed at home and tended to her kids.  Well-well—What should ole Joe should have done??  This was NOT Ashley’s first taste of dope.

Wow, reminds me of the Michael Phelps thing.

Me too. But it also reminded me of the allegation attributed to George Bush’s sister-in-law that he snorted coke at Camp David during George H.W. Bush’s presidency. Bush himself said that when his father became president, he would not have passed the first Pres. Bush’s requirement that his staff swear they hadn’t used illegal drugs in the past 15 years. There are also allegations that the reason Bush did not complete his flight training in the Air National Guard was because he refused to take a drug test and so was barred from flying.

Then how come he went through the training and was permitted to fly?

He didn’t! And he wasn’t!

That’s right. He was banned from flying because he refused to take a drug test. He went back to Houston where he got into a fist fight with his father — "mano a mano" — and then Bush Sr. arranged an "honorable" discharge. In return, Bush Jr. applied for law school and was rejected by every school he applied to. He finally got into Harvard Business School — where apparently he learned absolutely nothing. His business career was a record of one failure after another, so, of course, he went into politics.
