Bill Clinton on Hillary: 'We've Reversed Roles' (Video)

The former president has to adjust to his wife being such a prominent figure in the world.

Being out of the White House and having his wife as the nation’s top diplomat is quite the role reversal for Bill Clinton, and it’s certainly taking some getting used to.

In this weekend’s issue of The New York Times Magazine, reporter Peter Baker follows the former president around, and writes that much of Bill’s recent globe-trotting is quite similar to Hillary Clinton’s First Lady days. Her husband now is the one who shops for souvenirs (he apparently loves to shop!) and waits for her to call from wherever she lands that day.

"She used to look forward to me coming home from wherever I’ve been," he laughed. "Now I’m afraid I’ll be second fiddle to whatever world leader she’s just met."

Yesterday, Hillary Clinton had a fairly tame schedule, which included meeting with Iranian-American reporter Roxana Saberi, who was detained in Iran for several months and found guilty of spying for the United States. She was released May 11.

Saberi thanked Clinton for pressing Iran to let her go, and said she gained strength from hearing so many people around the world supported her. For her part, the secretary of state said she wasn’t only concerned as an American official for Saberi’s well-being.

"This was a matter of great concern to our country and certainly to the Obama administration and to me personally. Not only as secretary of state, but as a mother," said Clinton.

We’re sure moms everywhere can relate.

Most relationships make that kind of turn nowdays. Women find the second stage to reinvent themselves. Good for him and her:)

"Not only as secretary of state, but as a mother," said Clinton."…. you see, women bring their experiences to the job, whether Secretary of State or Supreme Court Justice or any other job, that cannot be denied and is not sexist or racist. It is just a bonus.

Nonsense…it is a bonus that does not need to be pointed out or elevated to any special attribute.

Nonsense, just as women have impacted the work force on all levels, a woman in a high level job brings qualities that are a bonus to those jobs in a world where men have pretty much controlled every aspect of the work place and our government for many years. These are qualities worth acknowledging and celebrating.

Utter nonsense…it has nothing to do with being a Justice.

Celebrate all that you want to…Mother’s Day…whatever…

Would you be willing to acknowledge Sarah Palin in the same light as Hillary Clinton?    She is a woman who has been a mayor and a governor.   I, for one, will readily and proudly acknowledge Sarah Palin.

Poor him - it’s not ‘all ‘bout Bill’ anymore! In this day and age, you have to take turns.

"She used to look forward to me coming home from wherever I’ve been,"

That quote just makes my skin crawl. I think I’m going to take a hot shower.

Hee hee. Well, it’s good that women have broken through the glass ceiling, but there’s still a steel roof on the other side of it. Sexism is still pervasive.

I believe Bill and Hillary Clinton lead separate lives.    I have always thought she had "her" friends and he has "his" friends.

They are both politically driven and know which interviews "need" to be done to promote them as a couple.

I don’t buy this for a second.
