Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal: 'It's OK to Want Obama to Fail'

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

When he gave the Republican response to President Obama’s February address to Congress, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal was roundly criticized for a delivery style that fell somewhere between Mr. Rogers and "30 Rock’s" Kenneth the Page. But that hasn’t stopped the 37-year-old up-and-comer from speaking out against Obama.

Last night, while headlining a Republican fund-raiser for 1,200 in Washington, Jindal weighed in on the side of those (like Rush Limbaugh) who have no problem with hoping for the worst: an Obama administration failure. "My answer to the question is very simple," he said. "’Do you want the president to fail?’ It depends on what he is trying to do."

Jindal, who helped raise more than $6 million for his former House colleagues for the 2010 midterm elections (and perhaps build support for a potential 2012 presidential bid), was speaking 12 blocks from the White House, just before President Obama’s press conference. He called the question of hoping for Obama’s "failure," "the latest gotcha game" played by Democrats against Republicans. "This is political correctness run amok," he said.

"Make no mistake: Anything other than an immediate and compliant, ‘Why no sir, I don’t want the president to fail,’ is treated as some sort of act of treason, civil disobedience or political obstructionism." (Hmmm. Why does that sound so similar to what Republicans used to say to any challenges to George W. Bush’s policies on terrorism, war or torture?)

Jindal also criticized Obama and Nancy Pelosi for their "spending spree." Jindal does put his money where his mouth is: He turned down $98 million in federal stimulus money for expanded unemployment benefits in Louisiana.

Democrats have been screaming for two months that republicans want Obama to fail.   Now we have democrats in congress who are not happy with Obama’s stimulus and not happy with his budget.   If we are asked the question the answer would be:   We absolutely want him to fail if he is backrupting the United States of America.   This is an inexperienced president who doesn’t "get it."   He has a socialist agenda and he is stopping at nothing to get us there.    As he said last night, "He is  patient, will bend but will not break, and will not stop."

Who IS Barack Obama?   And, why are we allowing him to ruin our country?

We all know and see exactly who Barack Obama is, a man who this country has needed for a very long time. Inexperienced my eye, you only have to watch and listen to him to see he has more intelligence and knowledge of all the subjects so early into his Presidency.  How many times did we see Bush out there on a regular basis explaining to the people what is going on…not that he was faced with this kind of a crisis to start with?   The socialist nonsense is the only theme that comes from the right, used daily by folks on here and folks on Fox all the latest buzz word from the old playbook.  I would like to know how come this country is in such a mess when the policies that were held by Bush apparently worked so well according to all the folks on the right?  They spent money like it was going out of style and now they want to pretend they are now so fisically responsible and Obama is spending too much….please!!!!   This country HAS been ruined and you can look no further than Bush for that with all the incompetence that surrounded him and his policies over the years…Obama intends to take this country back and it’s about time too.  We never allowed Bush to ruin the country that was done by all those who voted for him and it will not be ruined by Obama it will become prosperous once again…time and patience is the order of the day.

What’s driving Obama’s unprecedented massive deficits? Spending. Riedl details:

Obama has inherited a ridiculous deficit from Bush to start with and many trillions more not accounted for under the Iraq war!!!  Where was the outrage when all this money was being spent over the war and not accounted for?  Everybody wants to sweep that under the carpet like it’s not any big deal and it is.  Obama wants to spend this money to do what he plans to do to get this country working again, the figures are high but that can’t be helped it has to be done, the wasteful spending by Bush over the years are now taking there toll and it’s come back to bite us all.  All these figure are well and good but the bottom line is, no one complained when money was being wasted and no regulations in place to keep these folks in check all the years while Bush was in office.  The party that now claims to be so fiscally responsible and concerned over spending couldn’t have cared less about that during the Bush years so to come back now and make such a big deal over it is just a joke.

The debt he inherited is MINISCULE in comparison to where he has taken the United States in 60 days….and, by the way, all presidents inherit debt and problems.   The answer is not to triple the debt and triple the problems.

You know what I think you folks would have preferred he just sit back and have done nothing…let the country sink deeper and deeper.  If he hadn’t spend another penny fixing this country you all on the right would have been outraged….what is this President doing, when he’s going to fix the economy etc etc…so all your arguments fall on deaf ears I’m afraid.  When the Rep party can come up with something other than complaining and cutting taxes they may have a reason to be heard.  The party that has had the worst spending record and now have the nerve to talk about Obama’s ambitious plans to fix this mess as I said they are an absolute joke.  Defend them all you like but it doesn’t change the fact that the country has gone to hell in a hand basket thanks to their policies over the years.

Nay Nay, caj p, republicans expected him to do something!   However, the minute he had the opportunity he put together eight long years of overdue democratic binge spending for all of the special interest groups.  We didn’t need a stimulus plan to get the economy back on the right track.   It is recovering now and no stimulus is in place.

Okay, hold on to your chair because I know you are going to freak out when I say this…but immediately cutting taxes to businesses would have INSTILLED confidence in the American people because they know that has always turned an economy around.    If you are still sitting down, the next thing he could have done is offer big tax credits to EVERYONE who files taxes! By offering large tax credits to everyone, most people would have their refunds by now and spending it, making their mortgage payments, paying their rent, etc.

Instead, he took advantage of an opportunity to "stick it to George Bush" and to load the smoker up with prime pork.   Many lost respect for him and lost confidence in him because he was so transparent.   Perhaps not the transparency he talked about during his campaign.   He hasn’t kept his promises.   And he cannot, for the life of him, talk seriously to the people of the United States of America unless he has the written speech plastered in front of him.   Without the big "T" he cannot keep his train of thought, he ummms and ahhhs, and can be expected to say something inappropriate.   And to think he sits in the Oval Office!!

The country did not go to hell in a handbasket over the past eight years.   The last eight years will not even be remembered in history as it will PALE in comparison to the trillions of debt during the Obama administration.   All this in less than 70 days.

History will not be kind to Barack Obama.

What is the problem with you folks about this teleprompter….Bush used them also but it didn’t help him too much as he still managed to mess up.  I’m sorry but this business of trying to pass the buck here onto Obama is not going to wash..Bush was asleep at the wheel and the market ran wild because of his no regulation policies on anyone so you can’t get away from that.  His policies were pathetic and they didn’t work or we would be having a fabulous economy now….jobs galore…new home buyers galore…folks saving money galore…instead we have the total opposite and all thanks to the Bush failed policies.  Obama will go down as one of the greatest Presidents ever, that you don’t want to hear I know but that is a fact so just back and enjoy the show and maybe, just maybe the Reps in power can learn a thing or two.

caj p , even you have to admit that it is way too soon to predict that Obama will go down as the greatest president ever….way too soon.   So far, he hasn’t accomplished one thing but quadruple what Bush left him.   He is off to a very uncertain start.

Not as far as I’m concerned,  I have had faith in him from day one and I believe in giving someone a good chance at a new job before kicking him to the curb after only 3 months without one iota of evidence that nothing is working or will work.  You have to speculate to accumulate in anything, he is spending money where it is needed to grow the economy, it may not sit well with the folks on the right but that is his vision for the country and that is what I want to see.  I saw Bush’s vision the last 8 years and I didn’t like what I saw and now it’s time to move forward.

Too bad the Messiah wasn’t starting his own religion instead of dabbling in politics. You "faithful" could still follow him as you saw fit, but the rest of us wouldn’t have to suffer for your blind faith.

caj p, every incoming President accepts the pitfalls of administration before him. This is what he campaigned for.

So to say it was "ridiculous" is not being fair, nor true to the actual numbers.

In 2008, the Govt. spending to GDP was 20.0% and the deficit to GDP was -3.6%, this is what Obama inherited from Bush!

Now 2009, Govt. spending to GDP is 27.7% and the deficit to GDP is 12.8% and rising.

Obama has increased the so called "ridiculous deficit" all on his own. So please just stop the lying!

Yes they do have pitfalls, but I don’t know of too many that have come into power with this gigantic mess to deal with do you?  Plus a humongous deficit left over from Bush and that has to be added to what he wants to do to fix the country, but like everything else that little matter doesn’t come into play!!!  I will thank you to stop lying that he has increased this deficit all on his own….you can’t create on your own what was already there to start with…a little short on telling the truth on that I feel.  Bush spent like a man with no arms and no accountability try as you like to make him out to have been such a good honest President…he spent trillions in Iraq that were unaccounted for and no one knows where that has gone!!  So lets be honest here who has spent money like a fool and all under the cover of darkness none other than Bush.

I will be honest about who has spent the money. All of them! No offense caj but all through this thread it just sounds like you are saying… Bush spent lots of money so why can’t Obama? Nobody complained then so stop complaining now. With this logic you are suggesting that we just ignore the warning signs of more failed policies and support our party blindly. Well, no thanks.

If you step away from both the right and left sides and move into the patriot zone, you  might see that all this spending is bad, BAD, for our country. But seriously, you may have to take off the blinders and pick up a basic economy book and study some recent history. You will see that there is blame enough for both parties. The solution is to stop interfering with big Govt. spending, we cannot spend our way out of this economic crisis. If taxes came down and interest rates went up the economy would begin to correct itself.

President Obama may have inherited big problems and debt but he is making it worse, at rocket speed. And since he is the one who is in charge now, he is the one who is going to get the criticism, it does no good to complain about what Bush or Clinton did at this point. Let’s stop pointing fingers and blindly following the people who work for us! We are supposed to be in charge, we need to let the Fed know that we are paying attention and are not happy with this out of control spending.

In a nutshell, what I am saying is stop arguing politics over an economic problem. No matter who it is doing the spending, just STOP!
