Candice Bergen Is Mindful About Health Care

Candice Bergen
Health care is too much for my tiny mind to grasp, but it has to be tackled and hopefully he is right and this is the place to start. My husband and I were talking about it last night and saying it is not too much for us to pay. It’s perfectly manageable and it must go through.

I agree wholeheartedly & am relieved to know that you are somewhat confused on the "how" as I am.  I strongly believe that health care reform will happen, although it will take a while to get it up to snuff.

President Obama needs to earn my support and so far he hasn’t come close.

Ever heard the saying "Why throw good money after bad?"    Fix Medicare, learn from it and build a model healthcare plan for all Americans.

Is it too much to ask that President Obama should slow down and get something right?    Is it really too much to expect?

Obama knows the majority of Americans do not like his plan.  He will go on television this evening to begin his campaign again to demand that deliberations stop now and accept what he, himself, is not fully familiar with.

This request of Obama’s gives new meaning to unconditional love and that is a "bridge too far" for republicans and bluedog democrats.

Well Candice…it sure is a good thing that the majority of Americans do not agree with you. Thank God.

Either does the CBO..so it looks like you may need some more information.

Affordable? That is just one of the many problems with this particular bill…but…typical liberal trigger there, "the rich can afford it, so tax ‘em". That’s not the main problem, although you seem to want to pretend that it is.

There is no amount of money that can be placed on our access to THE doctor of our choice, THE proceedure that we need, or THE time that we want it done.

Turning ones life and loved ones over to the "Comparitive Effectivenss Research Council" is not a freedom of choice. It will be a death sentence for many, many that will be judged unaccecptable for care.

Nope…if this bill is "great for the American people" today…it will stand up to some debate and a few more months of public scrutiny.

Just consider this an "engagement"…no need to rush to the alter…we need to get this right and this bill is wrong in so many ways.

Deber,

I have been reading your posts for a long time now & I understand that you do not approve of the president.  Never have and more than likely never will.  That is fine.  Frankly, that is exactly how I was with President GW Bush.  You don’t like him & don’t trust him.  Great.  But the fact of the matter is the republicans had the White House for 8 years and did not address health care reform.  Yes, acting impulsively is not in our interest.  But, the fact of the matter is that taking no action on this issue has already cost nation greatly.  We have a president of action now.  The majority of American voters elected him to do a job & that job includes getting the Congress & Senate to deal with this issue.  Good for him.

"why throw good money after bad?" "is it really too much to expect?" "demand deliberation stop" "unconditional love" and "bridge too far" - I have to say I am impressed with your ability to throw so many fire bombs in a posting.  As I mentioned in another posting, this is the kind of partisan politics that we simply can’t afford any longer.

*Also, the ‘bridge to nowhere’ was proposed by the Alaskan congressional delegation lead by Rep Don Young (R) and Senator Ted Stevens (R).  I find it extremely amusing that you are attempting to use it against the president.  Next you will be questioning the Ted Stevens conviction - which President Obama has decided to not retry after finding evidence of prosecutorial misconduct.  For those of you not following along - Sen. Stevens was convicted by the justice department under while GW Bush was president, but it was later determined that the prosecution did not follow the rules so the conviction was thrown out.  Early in his administration President Obama decided to not re-try the case.

Candice,

My family and I are in the middle of this craziness. My husband has a descent job yet we pay $300 a month for our family through his employment. The co pays are murder. One of my sons medicines is $140 co pay for three months, another is $115. The $140 for three month one without insurance PLEASE SIT DOWN would be $1000 for a one month supply. That is ludicrous. I have seen people elderly and young alike at the pharmacy counter who had to turn away and could not get the medicine they required. We must start now. My father in law is in the UK and gets his medical services just fine. I am so tired and angry of the scare tactics. I am also tired and angry at the people who purposely do anything to be against anything Obama. At least he is willing to make a start. We must start somewhere. We can talk about it forever and achieve nothing while more people die due to insurance companies choosing profits over people. For profit health care is an oxymoron. It doesn’t work.

Passing this bill is not "a start" it would be the end. Debate, disclosure, that is a start…

Obama himself is pushing the scare tactics…rushing this at our representatives and the people. We can NOT afford to get this wrong…Americans need to take the time and get this thing right.

People do not like the BILL…it is FLAWED..even his own party is balking at this rush job of a bureaucratic mess. Take a look at Obama’s OWN Senate record on voting for health care reform…get real here.

Most people that are willing to jam a bad bill down our throats are doing so just on the strength of their Obama worship. For those people, I say; " If the bill is great today…it will be great tomorrow"

We need to take the weeks or months to get a better plan together. It has nothing to do with "talking about it forever" it has ALL to do with READING the damn thing and DEBATING the issues.

I am real. I think for myself. I do not allow talking point scare tactics to work on me.

SG…you are defintely responding to the Obama hype of hurry hurry hurry! And if you like the bill the way it is…you have made a foolish mistake.

Thank goodness that the majority of Americans and many Democrats can see the problems with this particular bill. It needs changes and needs to be debated for the public.

My belief is that you would support anything that Obama presented to you.

S G, I hate to tell you this but Kelly is not in the minority:

"Heading into a critical period in the debate over health-care reform, public approval of President Obama’s stewardship on the issue has dropped below the 50 percent threshold for the first time, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. "

If you don’t believe the Washington Post, please google one of your sites.
