I wish we had great journo’s in Australia like you guys in the US. Where not big on the whole "free speech" thing… we just basically report on what’s going to sell papers. I’m sure that happens in the US to but its really the only thing that happens here. Its extreamly frustrating…
Thank God, every day, in everyway…left or right-that the KGB is not on our front doorstep (at least not yet) and we as Americans have the right to disagree openly.
As these rights are incrementally eroding, we must step back whether conservatives or libs and continue together to fight the good fight for righteousness and free speech-or….there will be no turning back…and the America as we know it will be a dim memory in the minds of those from days gone by.
I think we are spoon fed what the media deems "news" because of its selling ability. Hence, we spend an inordinate amount of time on the lives of celebutantes (i.e. Jon and Kate, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, etc.) and not enough on let’s say the men and women who are protecting our civil liberties.
People like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Dick Cheney get more airtime than people who actually work in the trenches and give us the scoop. These people spend their time cutting down the other side and not enough on why their way is the best. (Ann Coulter’s claim to fame is NOT that she knows what she is talking about, but just that she is willing to say shocking things that most won’t say.)
I realize that it is better than being spoon fed propoganda from the North Korean government, and other dictatorships, but we do have room for improvement.
