Carla Bruni Nude Shot Going to Auction; Husband Shrugs

A bidding war will soon begin in Berlin, where nude pictures of French First Lady Carla Bruni are set to go up for auction next week.
The image, taken by American photographer Pamela Hanson in 1994 when Bruni was a 26-year-old model, depict the 41-year old lounging in bed, bare-breasted. Such a scenario would likely cause a puritanical panic Stateside, but Bruni’s husband, President Nicholas Sarkozy, seems to be handling the situation with nonchalance. A spokesperson says he has "no issue" with the shots. "
He has made it clear he has no problem with this because he knows that the only images of his wife in existence are tasteful," remarked a source inside Elysee Palace "Some may be nude, but she is a beautiful woman who was a model and only ever posed for pictures that had artistic merit."
The picture, of which there are only ten signed copies, are expected to go for around £3,000, about $4,800.

The big deal is? I don’t get it. So what?
Too funny. Some people got their panties in a wad because Michelle Obama made Maxim’s Hot List. Now here’s the French President just shrugging off nude pics of Carla. Way to go, Nic!
Hi Maggie,
I remember the thread regarding Maxim’s List. Some of those people acted as if there was a picture of Michelle Obama in a swimsuit draped over a car. LOL Can you imagine if there were topless pictures of her floating around? WHEW!!!!
YAWN!
The Pseduo-Puritanical USA is the only Industrialized Nation that still holds Medieval views on the human body and sexuality.
I speak English, French & German so I regularly read Paris Match and Der Spiegel to keep up with the language skills. In those magazines you will see naked people used in ads all the time. It’s no big deal.
Come on America! it’s the 21st Century not the 10th.
I was raised in a house full of Artists. There is nothing I find more amusing than people being shocked and in a tizzy over a nude picture. There is a huge difference between a nude painting and porn. Jeeze! For My Dad’s Fine Arts Master’s Thesis he sculpted a full grown man, the model happened to be the neighbor across the street. It stood in an art museum and then our living room for a couple of years before he finally gave it to the model, who proudly displayed it in his own home. We used to hang Christmas ornaments around the sculptures neck, arms and his you know what at Christmas time, lol When my little friends came over my Dad would cover his privates with a cloth, so as not to offend, but really people…a nude painting is nothing!
Of course, I agree with the above posts. The USA needs to get over itself and grow up. There are so many masterpieces of statuary in Europe that will never be seen on US soil because certain segments of outraged citizenry would decry it as obscene. Rubbish.
We all know there are many more examples - Ms. Bruni-Sarkozy’s photos are one of those. Bless the French.
As I said before, on another thread about Bruni — who cares what she says or does. Personally I don’t care if she posed in the all-together. Whatever floats her boat. She has that freedom. A freedom she enjoys because 60,757 American Servicemen gave their lives in France to liberate the French people. She can express her thoughts and actions in French - not German!
Why, what have they ever done to you? Have you ever visited? I have, often and speak the language fluently, even studying it for over 10 years. I would love to hear a real actual reason for your hatred of a people that have never done anything to Americans and whom, without, America would still be a British colony.

Toi qui a le coeur gai
Tu as le coeur a rire
Moi je l’ai a pleurer
Il y a longtemps que je t’aime
jamais je ne t’oublierai. :-)
