CIA's Leon Panetta Fires Back at Pelosi's Allegations Over 'Misleading' Comments

CIA director Leon Panetta fired back at Nancy Pelosi after the House speaker said that the spy agency "misled" Congress on waterboarding and other torturous interrogation tactics.
Panetta said today that he and his colleagues are not in the business of lying and urged his staff to keep their eye on the prize. In a memo entitled "Turning Down the Volume," Panetta told staffers, via Politico:
Let me be clear: It is not our policy or practice to mislead Congress. That is against our laws and our values. As the Agency indicated previously in response to Congressional inquiries, our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing ‘the enhanced techniques that had been employed.’ Ultimately, it is up to Congress to evaluate all the evidence and reach its own conclusions about what happened.
Panetta also insisted that the agency is one of "high integrity, professionalism and dedication," and instructed agents to not get distracted by all the "political hay" caused by Pelosi’s press conference yesterday.

Nancy is at odds now with fellow Democrat hack Leon Panetta.
How sweet it is.
Hey Martha…that makes the Dems "hacked off"….hee hee.
Does anyone else think that Obama wanted a good reason to get rid of Pelosi? I think that the Dems are beginning to realize that Obama is not "one of them", he has he own agenda and no one is safe. Being the Dem. candidate for President was just his Trojan Horse. And now….he is safely within the gates.
You can bet that they have begun to realize that they have been had. I hope that they start acting more like Americans and less as Democrats.
Hey Libra Lady!!! It think it is much worse that "we told you so" because this affects all of us in many many ways. Bush was right to leave GITMO alone until a safe plan was devised. This is a tough situation.
Obama may be considering reversing everything he reversed since he took office.
"Pull-a-lie-osi" ahahahah.
I hope the CIA pulls out all of the stops on this one.
