Colin Powell Staffer Lawrence Wilkerson: Cheney 'Evil'

Lawrence Wilkerson has no love for Dick Cheney.

Wilkerson, who was once Secretary of State Colin Powell’s chief-of-staff, took some time yesterday to blast Cheney, who Wilkerson described as "evil."

Responding to Cheney’s insistence that President Obama makes the nation less safe, Wilkerson said, "Cheney and his like are the evil people and we certainly are not going to prevail in the struggle with radical religion if we listen to [such] people." Wilkerson went on to say that Cheney and company were the ones who make America less safe.

Via Think Progress:

But al-Qa’ida will be back. Iraq, GITMO, Abu Ghraib, heavily-biased U.S. support for Israel, and a host of other strategic errors have insured al-Qa’ida’s resilience, staying power and motivation. How we deal with the future attacks of this organization and its cohorts could well seal our fate, for good or bad. Osama bin Laden and his brain trust, Ayman al-Zawahiri, are counting on us to produce the bad. With people such as Cheney assisting them, they are far more likely to succeed.

Well, Wilkerson would know — he did work in the Bush White House.

Let’s remember this is the man who helped to "out" a CIA agent in order to further his agenda on the war in Iraq.  This man is no patriot and should no longer be given a media to further his lies.

Well here comes a blast from the past… I too agree Wilkerson is no patriot, and obviously working from his own agenda. It begs the question (to me at least) tell-all book deal? College lecture series? What puts him “out there” media-wise? Cheney was a sitting Veep for eight years; Wilkerson was a policy wonk. Though I doubt a majority of Americans could photo id Cheney; no one (short of co-workers/neighbors) would know who he is. Follow the ca$h!

Paula,

I share your anger. It was stunning to me that Valerie Plame was exposed.  By doing so, not only was her long career destroyed, but it is not unfathomable to imagine that foreigners around the world, who so much as shared a sandwich or played a game of tennis with her and were not aware of her profession, could be rotting in a dungeon somewhere having their fingernails ripped off.  It made me sick.

By the way, this is a common error made, but I feel I must clarify that Valerie Plame was a CIA officer (or operative) and not an agent.  A CIA agent is a foreigner, who provides intelligence about or spies on his or her country on behalf of the United States.  An intelligence officer is often only as successful as the agents s/he recruits.

I have to add that what was even more shocking was that George W. Bush’s father headed the Agency in the mid-70’s.  One would have thought that W’s administration would have had more respect for those who truly are patriots and have dedicated their adult lives to this country.

And let’s not forget "Rummy", the architect of the Iraq strategy, the other Darth Vader of 43’s administration.  Both out of touch and perhaps happy to finish 41’s war with a victory.  CB/NYC

We have all come to consensus that Cheney is "Evil’…and a control freak…and if we were all psychologists doing a personality research, I could understand why cheney would be appearing on sunday talk shows and the like….But since we are NOT interested in what he says or thinks any longer—-why does he keep getting thrown up to us by the media?  Instead of being suppressed with war-crime indictments?

Patty E, it’s to pit the democrats against the republicans.

Lawrence Wilkerson is stating what he "thinks."   Cheney was never close to winning Mr. Congeniality.   He has strong opinions about Osama Bin Laden.   Until we can capture him and shut him down, we all need to be afraid.   His hatred of the U. S.(true infidels) intensifies every day.

Although I have never been a fan or supporter of Dick Cheney, I do believe he is a very intelligent man who understands how dangerous Al Qaida is to U. S. and European countries.   I can’t fault him for that.

I want Cheney and Karl Rove in prison so they are no longer invited to give their opinions on anything… at least until they get out and get their Right Wing Radio gigs.

Of course you do, DeBurca!   I wouldn’t mind seeing Geithner and Dodd investigated and put in handcuffs.   I know the feeling.

If Mr. Wilkerson writes a book I certainly will read it. Cheney and Rove are both evil people and I hope their evil ways will catch up with them in the end.

They are considered war criminals throughout the world, and here you can add treason to that. If we do not at least put them to trial, that will be a travesty.

Cheney is retired…  it’s all up to BHO now.

Yes, Marjorie C., he is retired.    All eyes on the Obama White House folks….there are a few things going on that need attention.   The number 13 comes to mind and it is, indeed, unlucky for Obama today.
