Condoleezza Rice Follows Sports, Writes About It

Dana Perino isn’t the only former Bush administration staffer with a new job. Condoleezza Rice, who served as secretary of state under the former president, recently took a gig at the Daily Beast where she will be covering — no, not politics, as we assumed — sports. Who knew Rice had such a thing for playing games?

This week, Rice tells readers all about her experience at the Masters in Augusta last week. While she wanted fellow Stanford alum Tiger Woods to take the cake, his loss only proves that Rice can be a good sport: She immediately cheered for a lesser-known player:

Not so for 48-year-old Kenny Perry. After my favorite golfers were out of it, my heart turned to him. When he made that great shot on 16, you could see the wonder in his eyes. You felt it was the moment of his career. He could not finish: But what a gentleman and what a thrill.

This new development makes us wonder: Will Rice, seen here with PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, cover the winter Olympics in Vancouver? And, if she does, will she play well with other foreign journalists? We have a feeling the answer is "yes."

I think if she wants to report on sports, Golf and Tennis would be two good sports and the third would be woman’s basketball. WTG Ms Rice!

I always thought she would be a great NFL Commissioner as well. Way to go Dr. Rice. She served our country well.

I am so excited for her!  What a nice change compared to many that end up in a field that tears up a current administration that is the opposite of the party they represented!  She is such a class act!  Where are the liberals at, commenting something nice?  That would be so nice for a change.

Condi is so cool…. do what you want chica!  I think it’s awesome that she’s not taking the usual path (a la George Stephanopolous) and doing political commentary.  She may come back to it, but for now, just have fun!

She was pulling for Kenny Perry!  So was I.  Well, after Tiger.  What a cool job.  Maybe she can do some college football.  The world is her oyster.  I think she could do justice to any career she chooses.  President Rice has a nice ring to it!  Somehow I thought she would return to Stanford and teach.  She is a classy lady, I wish her the best!

Her foreign travel to cover sports events may be limited as the international investigations into her role in setting up the torture regime in the Bush administration continue. She has admitted she was one of the White House "principals" who helped develop guidelines for torturing suspects and that she received regular briefings on activities by U.S. government staff tasked with carrying out the "extreme interrogation techniques."

Condi shows herself to be multi-dimensional. Posters who only speak ‘politics’ could take a lesson….
