Dearth of Female Support for GOP

The GOP falls 22 points behind the Democrats in terms of women’s allegiance.

The Republican Party needs to find a way to attract more women, because a recent Gallup Poll shows that only 27% of women identify as Republican. Meanwhile, 41% of women call themselves Democrats.

Of independents, more lean Democratic than Republican — 57 to 35 — which, as US News and World Report points out, gives the Democrats a 22% lead over their GOP rivals.

But Mary Kate Cary says that this apparent division may be attributable to people being afraid to identify as Republicans, or perhaps that women are registered as Democrats so that they can vote in that party’s primaries, which gives them power to sway what candidates run.

Men, meanwhile, were more evenly divided: 30% support Democrats, while 28% prefer Republicans.

Exactly what I thought.  =)   And based on the messages presented by the female Republican posters here, it’s not hard to figure out why  most women are distancing themselves from the party of "NO".

"And based on the messages presented by the female Republican posters here"

Thanks, MK…based on the posts by Dems here, I’m surprised that women embrace a party of such intolerance and unfriendliness…

I apologize, Rachel F — I was referring to the posts of a "select few" and I’m betting you know exactly who they are — not all.

Apology accepted. ;) My post, too, was referring to a select handful, and certainly not everyone. :)

Based on the messages posted here, I was surprised at just how manipulated the Dem. women have been. They are eating up the bread crumbs that the male liberals have laid out for them….most base their support of the Democratic party on the issue of abortion.

So sad that women would be so gullible as to be swayed by one issue that really only destroys women and their children.

Unprotected sex…YES THEY CAN….get a quick abortion….YES THEY CAN….pretend that they were not just taken advantage of…YES THEY CAN…not admit to their own lack of self control…YES THEY CAN…ah…the party of "yes they can", only benefits the men….

How noble.

I take it you are a one issue woman, and that one issue is the desire to control the choices other women make about there own bodies.  And, it seems that your method of persuasion is hurling insults at women who chose differently than you.

No one ever changes their mind about a choice just because someone insulted them.

As you can tell from te messages posted here, it seems most women are more concerned with controlling their own lives than controlling the live of others.

As I can tell from some of the posts here…" Illusions are by their nature sweet". You had better take a stroll back through these posts and take note of who "hurled" insults….

But one major rule for radicals…deomonize the opinion….tsk tsk….I wish more women would think for themselves…..

I get the impression that only when women agree with you — do you consider them thinking for "themselves".

Of course you feel that way MK P….that sentiment relieves you from engaging in the conversation and allows you to feel justified in the attack.

That sentiment allows me to have my own viewpoints.
