Eric Cantor Retracts 'Listening Tour' After Rush Limbaugh Criticism (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Eric Cantor spent his Sunday morning telling CNN that the Republican Party plans on launching a listening tour.

Said the House minority leader, "What we’re trying to do here today is kick off a series of town-hall forums so that we can get back to listening to the people."

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh didn’t like that one bit and on Monday said the GOP shouldn’t take such a tactic: "We do not need a listening tour. We need a teaching tour. That is what the Republican Party, or, slash, the conservative movement needs to focus on. Listening tour ain’t it."

Well, Cantor must have gotten the message, because he told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough this morning that the party’s rebranding does not amount to a listening tour: "You know, Joe, really, this — this is not a listening tour … What the National Council for a New America is, is an opportunity for us to go out across this country to talk about our conservative principles and to appeal to as many elements in our society as we can, and to really talk to them at a higher level."

More than likely they will be "teaching" what people don’t want to hear.  That’s the problem with both parties.  First, YES, listen to the concerns of the populace.  Don’t just assume you know what is best for us to hear.  Give us the real skinny on immigration, health care, our lousy public education, etc.

In 2007 Pres. Bush laid immigration on the Congressional table four times.  Every time it was shot down in both parties.  What’s the deal ?  Why does immigration, among other issues, constantly get pushed under the rug?  During the campaign, neither McCain or Obama wanted to discuss it in any depth.

We’ve all heard that God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason.

If the Republican Party is going to reclaim any political power — they need to start listening to the voters, not telling them what to think.

Or, dahlings, stated another way, our dear Rush says, "Listen?  I’m not listening!  I’m TALKING!!!

"YOU listen."

I watched Cantor this morning—-what I find ironic, is that the GOP under Bush were always accusing the Dems of being ‘flip-floppers’……hahahahaha….now we have a NEW definition of ‘flip-flopper’….when I lived in Hawaii they were sandals made out of recycled tires, then the GOP said a flip-flopper was one who changed its mind (after getting more information—-idiocy ruled then)…today…a flip flopper could be a Republican who keeps kicking himself in the butt! when the wizard of idiocy speaks!  hahaha….whew!

EKA -

Listening, talking, teaching, explaining ….. same old thing. Tax cuts for the rich, smaller govt, bigger military, anti-choice, pro NRA -

we heard, we listened, we were taught,  and we voted their asses out.

What else do they need to know ?

Actually, if the Republican party ‘listened’ to its base (and some Blue Dog Dems) they would not be in disarray right now.  Democrat Lite doesn’t play well.

Well so much for that idea, Limbaugh has spoken to the troops wondering in pizza joints trying to find their way back into the main stream. Never mind what the general public may want and have opinions on, I will give you your talking points and you will do as I say or else.

Do you think these Republicans all got knee pads from Rush for Xmas?  If not, they need to invest in some.  This kowtowing is sad, and these people need to grow a damn spine.

If they can’t stand up to Limbaugh, how are they going to stand up to terrorists?  Tell them they are sorry, they "mis-spoke"?

If Rush hasn’t sent them some kneepads, now would be the perfect opportunity!  Think of all the ways he could address the card!  "Here, you’re going to need these!"  "I got them in gray flannel to match your suit!"  "They pack flat so you can take them anywhere!"  He’d probably sign the card, "With love, El Rushbo"    ;-)
