Fashion Icons Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni Come Together in France

It was a moment we’ve been waiting for all week: Michelle Obama and French First Lady Carla Bruni finally met this morning when their husbands came together in France, where world leaders are preparing for this weekend’s NATO summit.

Bruni missed out on this week’s G-20 summit in London, so she didn’t get a chance to show off her fashion skills during that particular diplomatic event.

We have no idea what Obama and Bruni, a singer and former model, talked about when they met, but they certainly looked fabulously glamorous doing it! Interesting that they both chose ensembles with neckties. Could this be the next international trend? If these ladies say so, then the answer is yes.

Meanwhile, President Obama took time after he landed in France to praise that nation’s commitment to the war in Afghanistan, a war we find wholly unfashionable, but, alas, we can’t dictate all trends, sadly.

Here’s the above picture, only bigger — all the better for you to ogle, dears!

Great photo, its going to be hard to get actors to play these four in a movie that look nearly as great!

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Michelle looks like she’s wearing a Michael Dukakis Star-Wars helmet.

Fashionista…not. Handsome woman, yes.

However, that outfit looks like a raincoat made for Chewbaca. Michelle does not have the figure for all styles, she does not have it easy.

BTW, Michelle and Carla are both statuesque, small bosomed women who can get away with the neckties. It’s not a style everyone can wear.

Like the one Jane Fonda wore one in Cat Ballou?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But Carla is not big butted. Being tall as Michelle is does not mean statuesque. Besides that particular dress is for an older woman. I can see Queen  e. in it. THey are making way to much about Michelle and not enough about us older folks and SS and healthcare that will help not harm

In the ObamaLot media…I am waiting for the following quote from the President…"I am the man who accompanied Michelle Obama to Paris…"

They all look great.  Congratulations…with the resources availed to them, they all should.  But it is just window dressing, a diversion.

It asks the question, why concentrate on the frivilous (even in a marginal way) when so many people are in such desparate financial strains.  Show up, do the meetings, the state functions, etc., but leave the aggrandizements out.

Let them eat Dolce and Gabbona?  The media needs to step down on the fashion alerts…

Because it is a diversion that is fun, Mary.  Michelle is getting very similar attention that Jackie got in her day, as did Grace Kelly when she married the Prince of Monaco.  And, there was Diana and all of the attention granted to her every move.  As for being frivilous during desperate times, think about all of the Busby Berkley movies of the 30’s and the musicals during which people could have a few moments of "diversion" and get their minds off their troubles.

Besides,  Mrs. Obama is a natural, all-American, intelligent and accessible woman, and she is enjoyable to watch as she makes her first official journey.

Bruni I’m certain is a lovely woman but standing next to First Lady Michelle Obama she PALES in comparison! She looks washed out, her pale complexion against that pale grey! First Lady Obama looks raidiant! Her beautiful Chocolate complexion, hair beautifully coiffed and her outfits color black popping with pink! Now that’s a WOW!

Whatever, these two gorgeous women wore came from their personal money! Me detects the green eye bitter bigot monster!

The prison matron gray color is not helping her complexion.
