Michelle Obama ... A Rage in Red!

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Michelle is all the rage.

The First Lady glows in red on the cover of Glamour’s December Women of the Year issue. While we’ve seen Mrs. Obama on the covers of Oprah, Vogue, Essence, Ebony, The New York Times magazine – just last week — and many more, this is the first time Glamour magazine, now 70 years old, has ever featured a First Lady. The Glamour editors note, of course, that Mrs. Obama has become a role model for young women, which was one of the reasons why they selected her as their cover girl.

"We love that she’s particularly set on expanding young women’s horizons," the staff writes on Glamour.com. "The First Lady is establishing mentor relationships between top women in the administration and girls in need in D.C., and is encouraging women leaders around the country to do the same where they live. Love that."

We love that, too. Few have graced the Oval Office with such style and substance…

She has mastered the delicate balance of wife, mother and advocate for important issues dear to her heart (including childhood obesity and military families). Oh, and one more thing: This Harvard Law School graduate is a true fashionista.

Oh, boo hoo. The same old Michelle bashers just wish it was Cindy McCain on that cover ,and they would be drooling uncontrollably with admiration and lavish praise.

This is about Michelle Obama and why Glamour chose her for the cover.  She looks lovely.  This is not about President Obama or his policies.  It is not about the Bush administration or Laura and the twins ( all lovely).  It is about the current First Lady. That’s it.

I have been given advice when commenting on the weekly Liz Peek articles.  If I don’t like it, I’ve been advised, then don’t read her.

I offer that same advice now.  If you don’t like the First Lady, don’t look at her, don’t respond to this post or any other media buzz about her.   And calm down.

I guess glamour polled young girls she topped the list as the top fashionista? Makes me wonder who was glamour’s top pic 5 years ago?

Mr. Wow - It’s definitely the liberal crowd that needs to be nervous right now.  Am watching the Virginia and New Jersey election returns, and it’s almost a sweep for Republican candidates.

Folks are angry…disappointed…and the last thing most of us want to see is the President’s wife all decked out in red, on the cover of Glamour.  It’s a reminder that the only shopping most of us are doing this year is in our own closets.

OMG - it’s a fashion magazine. They all have $$$$$ clothes etc..  They also have covers with lovely women who have all been photoshopped, but Michelle seems to be getting crucified again for her cover shot. She is the first lady…like it or not. I suspect the real deep down feeling a lot of you have is because she is black, and that will always have you criticizing anything she does. This is a holiday issue, and what better than to have her dressed in holiday red? Give her a break.

True Grit

Oh for crying out loud Lizzie…GIVE IT A BREAK! "Because she is black" ???

Just who in the heck do you think got her husband into the White House? The white vote, that’s who. So stop this race baiting. Enough is enough, the American public is sick and tired of being called names just because they may have a different opinion.

People are sick of the Rock Star cr@p that the media has presented them as. We are tired of the speeches and continual campaigning. We are sick of the photo ops and global trotting. We are sick of the opulance while we are out of jobs and wondering where the Holiday money will come from.

This celebrity status press needs to end, the people want to be listened to…not once again have the Obama’s presented as some unapproachable elitist.

True Grit, you seem to have a way of nailing issues.   It is the rock star status that is unbecoming of a president and the first lady.   Barack didn’t earn a Nobel Peace Prize and Michelle didn’t earn "Woman of the Year" status.   It’s way too early in their presidency to earn anything and the public knows it.   Could Michelle receive that title?  You bet she could after we have actually seen her accomplishments.   So far, the only thing she has accomplished is a vegetable garden and 22 aides compliments of the taxpayers of the United States of America.   Obama has spent $15 trillion and we have nothing to show for it and our troops in Afghanistan are still left in a highly risky situation….Nobel Peace Prize for a few speeches?   Yep, that’s what got him the Nobel.    Breathtaking….

Lizzie, am with you on your take. Perhaps those who are screaming the loudest are feeling a tad guilty. I personally can’t see anything Michelle has said or done to be worthy of such anger, except becoming first lady. We have seen the placards, the posters , but the cowards are hiding behind self-righteous indignation- now if they just apply their standards to the last 4 first ladies we would see the racism smack back and the stuttering back peddling begin.

Lizzie R.  I do not see a "crucifixion" here of the First Lady.  There has been back-and-forth comments regarding the number of staff;  there has been some slight ridicule of the media hype;  and, there has been some honest disagreement.  I’ve not seen anything directed at the First Lady that was mean spirited.  There has certainly been none of the vile and ugly personal comments as directed at either Cindy McCain or Sarah Palin.

Give us a break.

When are we going to stop looking at color and look at the person.  "It’s what’s on the inside that counts".  The Obamas have shown over and over how much they care about everyone.  Michelle looks beautiful in Red and is giving young people hope.  We all should be doing the same.  Something from the 60’s group "We walkthe walk, but can we talk the talk."

First  Lady Requires More Than Twenty Attendants
July 7, 2009

Written  by Dr. Paul L. Williams

"In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to
give back to this country that has given me so much,"
she said. "See, that’s why I left a job at a big
law firm for a career in public service, "… Michelle
Obama

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First
Lady and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But
this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented
number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy
her every request in the midst of the Great Recession.
Just think,  Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china
for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower
had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary from her husband’s salary.

Total Personal Staff members for other first ladies paid by taxpayers:

Mamie Eisenhower : 1    paid for personally out of President’s salary
Jackie Kennedy: 1
Rosalyn Carter: 1
Barbara Bush: 1
Hilary Clinton: 3
Laura Bush: 1
Michele Obama: 22

How things have changed! If you’re one of the tens of
millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning
less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart
or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and
then come to realize that the benefit package for these
servants of Ms Michelle are the same as members of the
national security and defense departments and the bill for
these assorted lackeys is paid by YOU, John Q. Public:
Michele Obama’s personal staff:

2. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the

Kindly do not call us racist because we oppose this president’s agenda and the damage he intends to do and is doing to this country. The liberal media can tell us how great the Obamas are ad nauseum, but that doesn’t mean we believe it. Red was a great color for Michelle’s dress- it’s indicative of their politics.

LOL!   I actually loved her red dress and her necklace….I’ll give her that.   What I didn’t agree with is that she has earned "Woman of the Year."
