Alex Sink hopes to take Charlie Crist’s place in Florida’s governor’s mansion.

Sink, the state’s democratic chief financial officer who was once a president at Bank of America, announced yesterday that she plans on running in the 2010 gubernatorial election. Many see her as her party’s best bet, especially since she’s more moderate than many of her peers.

But Sink’s not the only one eyeing Crist’s position, which he’s giving up to run for Senate. Conservative Republican Bill McCollum plans on making his formal announcement next week, according to The Miami Herald.

Though they’re not in full campaign mode just yet, Sink and McCollum faced off after a Cabinet meeting yesterday, with Sink taking aim at McCollum’s hiring of an out-of-state consultant to help with a campaign against sexual predators. The state’s Republican Party, meanwhile, seems poised to take on Sink’s past at Bank of America, during which time, they say, she played "the leading role in tanking Florida’s economy."

My first gut reaction was that ‘as a former banker’, she has 3 strikes against her before she even begins the campaign…..Florida is a big State—can’t they find someone who appears NOT to be a ‘part of the problem’?  Remember that movie ‘Dave’?  Now someone like him would be better than a politician or a banker—-how about someone who has ethics?

I wonder—does she plan on sinking Florida economically?
