Greta Van Susteren Takes on Letterman, Sally Quinn for Palin-Bashing (Video)

It’s one thing to bash the woman, but quite another to bash her children, Van Susteren says; Levi Johnston pipes up about Palin’s resignation.

Greta Van Susteren is mad as hell and she’s not gonna take it anymore.

On her FOX News Channel show, "On the Record," last night, Van Susteren took The Washington Post’s "Sally Quinn" and others to task for shamelessly bashing not only Sarah Palin, but Palin’s children, as well. Meanwhile, Bristol Palin’s baby’s daddy, Levi Johnston, has his own theory about why Sarah Palin announced her resignation from the Alaska governorship: money. More on that later.

Van Susteren said last night:

"Why is Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn gratuitously trashing Gov. Palin? Quinn even accuses Palin of exploiting her children, specifically Bristol and little Trig, little Trig, who has Down’s syndrome. And David Letterman — he also can’t stay away from the governor, either."

Letterman made another sexually tainted joke about Palin this week, saying: "Is it just me or is anyone having naughty thoughts about Sarah Palin and those waders," referring to the fishing outfit she wore when talking to reporters this week while defending her resignation.

In an interview on MSNBC Thursday, Quinn, founder of the Post’s "On Faith" blog, said:

Well, clearly, she has not put her family first … And these children have, it seems publicly, to have been exploited by her in a, I think, really unfortunate way … She brings them all to the convention, including Trig, the baby. She brings the pregnant daughter with the boyfriend who clearly didn’t want to be there. She then travels around with the children, using them as sort of photo ops … she brings the children up when she needs them to shore up her own image.

Think what you want about the Alaska governor, but it’s likely many women think these kinds of slams are just inappropriate.

"This is wrong because, first of all, they are attacking her parenting skills. And why we are debating whether or not she should have had her kids up as late as she did on the night of the nominating convention is just borderline bizarre, particularly because we don’t ask that question of any of the guys who bring their children to big political events," former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift, a Republican who also had young children in office, said on "On the Record." "But even importantly, don’t we have more important things to be discussing in this country? And activities, we could move on to things that actually impact the millions of families who don’t have a job or don’t have paid maternity leave, things that are legitimate public policy issues."

Meanwhile, Levi Johnston, Bristol’s former fiancée, told reporters Thursday that he once heard Palin talking about how she could have a better life in which she could spend more time at home with less stress, and could accept high-paying offers coming her way. After all — she is the Republican everybody’s talking about at the moment. Johnston said that in December Palin "had talked about how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else." Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton had a quick comeback for that, saying: "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills."

It’s no secret the Palins and Johnston have become, well, more distant in recent months as Johnston has taken to the press to criticize Alaska’s first family, and to talk about how much visitation his family should have with his son, born to Bristol, December 28.

Deber is so right. Many others would have done the same thing but it would Never be a story. It is the hatred that keeps her in the news! Keep it up liberals, you are doing a great job, hatred always comes back around in such mysterious ways!

Why because we come back on Sarah does it always have to be "hate" from you folks on the right?   She is a quitter and could not care one jot about her fellow Alaskans it is all about Sarah now.   Who was the one who kept talking about Alaska every chance she on the campaign she couldn’t stop talking it about it?  Now all of a sudden she can’t be bothered to finish out her term that is the mark of a quitter and someone totally obsessed with her own needs before the public she was elected to serve!!!

caj:  Now all of a sudden she can’t be bothered to finish out her term…

I don’t believe it is all of a sudden.  Sarah Palin and her family have been abused by the MSM for months now.  Ever since she was a hit on the general election circuit, the Dems have relentlessly bashed her…  every day…  all the time.  The Alaskan Dems worked their magic to make her resign.  Why?  So they could call her a quitter.  Why do Dems want to damage this woman so much?  She’s harmless to you.  The Dems have the prize…  they own the government.  What more do you people want?

Marjorie- AMEN!  Boy, did you just speak the truth, but as you know there are some who would not know the truth if it hit them right smack in the face!  It is much easier to be mean and spew hate.  Unfortunately, they really do a great job, but like everything else, it gets really Old!  Before she quit, many said she was not capable to be a Governor or any thing else, now they call her a quitter.  So interesting how it just does not matter what Ms. Palin says or does, she receives the same results from these same people-Hatred.  They just need to move on and get a Life!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Why would you believe it wasn’t all of a sudden?   It is because Sarah said so and that is the end of it!  Never crosses anyone’s mind that she can’t handle bad press and she is not that well liked in Alaska anyway so it’s time to jump ship before anything else comes down the pike.  We haven’t heard the last wrong doings yet mark my words.  Sarah wants to get out before anymore shite hits the fan as with Sarah there’s never any smoke without fire!

caj p,   News Flash!   Sarah Palin has resigned as Governor of Alaska.   Where she lands next nobody knows.   So you’ll need to find another dead horse to beat in the interim.   Whose next?

Sarah may have resigned as Governor but we haven’t seen the last of her I’m sure.  Like I said before she has bigger fish to fry and the games start now!   Our Sarah likes the limelight too much to just go away you should know that.

Marjorie...The Dems have the prize…  they own the government.  What more do you people want?

That is an excellent question….I would so much like to know the answer to that too.  What more can they squeeze out of this woman???  Finally yesterday a reporter who was in the obama camp (cannot remember his name) said that the media mistreated Gov. Palin and he was apologizing for his part into the media hype.  He said "we should all be ashamed of ourselves, because we were not doing our job fairly"!!!  I’m afraid his apology is a little too late.

Sad, isn’t it?   The only answer is that they can’t bring themselves to look EAST so they keep looking WEST.

You’re spot on.  What happened to the Sarah who couldn’t wait to get back to Alaska and " get back to work!"   Sarah took an oath and bailed when she couldn’t handle a late night comedian and the media.  "Boo hoo hoo.  Look at poor me.  The meanies are after me."  Hillary Clinton took hit after hit after hit and for months on end.  We see where she is today.

Keep talking, Levi!  You are the credible one.

Wow!!!  Yes, Maggie I suppose you would know all about meaness  Just unbelievable, how does one hate so much, especially if it is just for political views.  I don’t get it and I hope that I Never do.  Levi is the credible one??  I am not sure anyone else would even support you on that one.  It is just being unkind and mean to get your point across, you have done that.  We all know that you absolutely Hate Sarah Palin, so now you can just stop the nonsense, we KNOW you hate her, there, you win!  Do you feel better now??

Maggie I do agree with you about Palin and Levi being the credible one!!!  He was just a kid, when they decided to use him, but he knows where the bodies are buried.  I also agree about Hillary, I really was not a big fan of hers, but as I saw her handle herself during the campaign, my respect for her totally grew.  Palin could take a lesson from Hillary, I think she even made some remarks about Hillary needing to take her licks from the press like a woman!!

I feel just great, Deborah!  Thanks for your concern!   But you may want to take some deep breaths and calm down a bit.  This thread can’t be good for your blood pressure.

I think Levi just may be spilling the beans on the Palin clan. If he’s making some money from that, good for him.  After all, Sarah dolled him all up for the camera when she was running for VP.  New suit and all. Back in Alaska, she made certain he was out of the picture.  Sarah should be ashamed.  Is that any way to treat her grandchild’s father?   Tsk, tsk!

Keep talking, Levi!!

Why Maggie, am I seeing a pattern here??  You appear to be arguing with just about everyone.  Does that tell you anything?  Honey, don’t you worry about my blood pressure now, it is about as low as one’s can go.  This is not what would ever upset me, that my dear is a fact.
