Greta Van Susteren Takes on Letterman, Sally Quinn for Palin-Bashing (Video)

It’s one thing to bash the woman, but quite another to bash her children, Van Susteren says; Levi Johnston pipes up about Palin’s resignation.

Greta Van Susteren is mad as hell and she’s not gonna take it anymore.

On her FOX News Channel show, "On the Record," last night, Van Susteren took The Washington Post’s "Sally Quinn" and others to task for shamelessly bashing not only Sarah Palin, but Palin’s children, as well. Meanwhile, Bristol Palin’s baby’s daddy, Levi Johnston, has his own theory about why Sarah Palin announced her resignation from the Alaska governorship: money. More on that later.

Van Susteren said last night:

"Why is Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn gratuitously trashing Gov. Palin? Quinn even accuses Palin of exploiting her children, specifically Bristol and little Trig, little Trig, who has Down’s syndrome. And David Letterman — he also can’t stay away from the governor, either."

Letterman made another sexually tainted joke about Palin this week, saying: "Is it just me or is anyone having naughty thoughts about Sarah Palin and those waders," referring to the fishing outfit she wore when talking to reporters this week while defending her resignation.

In an interview on MSNBC Thursday, Quinn, founder of the Post’s "On Faith" blog, said:

Well, clearly, she has not put her family first … And these children have, it seems publicly, to have been exploited by her in a, I think, really unfortunate way … She brings them all to the convention, including Trig, the baby. She brings the pregnant daughter with the boyfriend who clearly didn’t want to be there. She then travels around with the children, using them as sort of photo ops … she brings the children up when she needs them to shore up her own image.

Think what you want about the Alaska governor, but it’s likely many women think these kinds of slams are just inappropriate.

"This is wrong because, first of all, they are attacking her parenting skills. And why we are debating whether or not she should have had her kids up as late as she did on the night of the nominating convention is just borderline bizarre, particularly because we don’t ask that question of any of the guys who bring their children to big political events," former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift, a Republican who also had young children in office, said on "On the Record." "But even importantly, don’t we have more important things to be discussing in this country? And activities, we could move on to things that actually impact the millions of families who don’t have a job or don’t have paid maternity leave, things that are legitimate public policy issues."

Meanwhile, Levi Johnston, Bristol’s former fiancée, told reporters Thursday that he once heard Palin talking about how she could have a better life in which she could spend more time at home with less stress, and could accept high-paying offers coming her way. After all — she is the Republican everybody’s talking about at the moment. Johnston said that in December Palin "had talked about how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else." Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton had a quick comeback for that, saying: "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills."

It’s no secret the Palins and Johnston have become, well, more distant in recent months as Johnston has taken to the press to criticize Alaska’s first family, and to talk about how much visitation his family should have with his son, born to Bristol, December 28.

Did you have a personal conversation with her, caj p?   All any of us know is what she has told us.   She is leaving for financial reasons and the stress of constantly battling with the media.   Your hatred of her should die down now.   She is no longer Governor of Alaska.   She made a very good decision for Alaska and for herself.

I have no reason to believe that she will not care for her beautiful family.    As a woman, you  know how women think.  When the vile criticism and lies are constantly directed at our children, we will protect them.

Get over the "hatred" kick we aren’t allowed to say anything about Sarah with out it being labelled "hate" that gets very tiresome!   If Sarah couldn’t handle the heat she should have stayed out of the kitchen then shouldn’t she?   If she thought running for VP  and now afterwards was tough as regards to the media she would never even make the first fence in a Presidential run.  It proves she has no bottle when the going gets tough it’s easier to bail out.  You keep trying to cover for her and her love for her family she may love them dearly but she was more than prepared to put them in the spotlight and all that came with it with out a second thought.   Sarah does what is best for Sarah on any given day so we’ll see how long it is before she announces her probable Presidential run.   Mark my words it’s coming!!!!

If I were a democrat, I believe I would be far more interested in what Obama is doing to our country instead of hanging out on the Sarah Palin/Levi tabloid threads.    The dems get really worked up over Sarah and that energy, in my opinion, would be better spent on "defending" the president you elected.   I find it odd.

I don’t need to defend the President I am totally in his camp already.  He is doing one bang up job and I couldn’t be more proud of him.   We are only talking about Sarah Palin because she is on this site again are we supposed it ignore it?  We aren’t worked up over her we find her totally amusing as we never know what antics she will get up to next that’s all!

True so true, I would rather be talking about Ensign and how his parents paid his mistress some hush money of close to $100K, and how he also used campaing fund to pay for her severance package, and the list does not stop.  I wonder what McCain’s take on this would be since he was a strong advocate for Campaign fund reform.  I mean his own team ratted out their own spending of campaign fund for the wardrobe of Palin and her family.  I’m dying to discuss what category paying off your mistress and her entire family from campaign fund would fall under.

As well as Sanford and Ensign’s involvement with the C Street House and the fundamental Christian group The Family.  Please WOW open that tread.  No more Palin, we’ve been there too many times already.  Lets discuss some men.

I’m thinking Sarah got back to Alaska, bored out of her mind, and missed the cameras and action of the national stage.  There’s a scene that stays with me.  After his concession speech, John and Cindy McCain got into their SUV and drove off.  Security detail had ended.   Sarah, on the other hand, insisted on a full motorcade on the way to the airport and insisted her security stay with her all the way back to Alaska.   Then Congress pulled the plug on it.

Right to the end, Sarah thought she was bigger than life and  so full of herself.

Was it you that claimed that President Obama may have lied about him writing his book and stating that once a liar always a liar, that since the insinuation is out there there’s probably some truth to it. Once a liar always a liar?

Palin lied about her reason for quitting the governorship.  Alaska, just like any other state, set aside specific funds for a legal team.  With or without these ethic alegations (which is how citizens hold their elected official accountable for their actions) that money would have already been spent.  So no, the state of Alaska did not incurr any addition charges bc she’s getting these complaints by citizens of the state of Alaska.

As for her legal fees of over $500K, also another lie.  There’s a Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund, funded by her campaign and probably her PAC, so donations and campaign contributions paid for all that.  Not her and Todd specificall.  The fund was tapped to fight off the allegations of her and her kids’ trip to New York where they stayed at a high priced hotel and bought high priced clothing and it was suppose to have been state sponsored trip.

She lied about her involvement with Trooper Gate, although on this matter, I would have probably done the same thing.  That ex-bother in law was a complete nut case and utterly out of control, but the truth of the matter is that she did misuse her position as the governor and she did have involvement in the matter.

Mrs.Palin has herself told many lies that has been proven to be lies, but your allegations that the President may not have written his book because you heard a rumor that someone had started that he may not have wrote it himself and you are still bringing that up?  Wouldn’t that be on the same level as when some idiot blogger posted that Trig may not have been Sarah’s?  That story has been proven false but have you seen any media outlet bringing that up again?  The only people that bring that up are Palin supporters who bring up that topic to defend her.

That is precisely what many people wonder.  Sarah says she has a " higher calling".  Maybe she’s planning to walk on water or pick up where Mother Teresa left off.  Personally, I believe Sarah said, " I’m getting out of this hell hole and following the money trail".  Sarah doesn’t give a flying fig about Alaska .

She had no distinguishable record the short time she was in office, so Alaska is very lucky she is talking a walk .

Queenie .
No, Maggie W, the walking on water and picking up where Mother Teresa left off, has already been taken.

Hey, Queenie.   I believe that walking on water job will be available again soon.   Seems the person who has it now is actually treading water.

We are moderate republicans.   We are trying to get back to center.   And we aren’t blind to what is going on in the White House or perhaps I should say, what is not going on in the White house.    Sorry, but President Obama has to be wrestling with his massive ego these days.   Nothing is has done is sticking to any wall in the United States and abroad.
