Gingrich Replaces Embattled Palin at GOP Dinner

It’s only Wednesday, but we’re guessing this week will be a total bust for Sarah Palin.

First and foremost, her former running mate, John McCain, refused to say on Sunday whether he would endorse her in a possible 2012 presidential race. The senator said he’ll first have to survey all of the candidates before making a decision, which is certainly the political thing to say, but also implicitly indicates that he doesn’t have much faith in the Alaska governor.

As if that weren’t enough, some of Palin’s constituents — and liberals across America — are angry that she picked Wayne Anthony Ross to be her state’s next attorney general. Why are people so angry? Well, it could have something to do with the fact that Ross referred to gays and lesbians as "degenerates." Lovely. Also, native Alaskans are angry over what they call Ross’s anti-rural policies and hope to derail his nomination.

All of that drama has been pretty contained, however, especially when compared to this: the Republican party disinvited Palin from their biggest fundraising dinner and replaced her with — wait for it — former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Palin’s team insists she had never confirmed her attendance at the event, which takes place June 8, but a press release sent out in March said the governor was the keynote speaker. Apparently things have changed, because the organizing committee yesterday said they had "decided to go in another direction." Ouch.

And who can forget the mysterious little box he had under the back of his suit during the debates with Kerry. Apparently someone had to feed his lines to him.

And wasn’t it you who was talking about conspiracy theories a little while ago?

What was the box then? See photo here.

Rudi, I heard at the time that it might be a defibrillator device because he had had some fainting spells and arrhythmia; all press speculation and never confirmed as far as I know.  Guess the communications device idea is an alternate theory.  There was something there though… it was visible…

Rudi, you’ve got that right, and even with all the speaking aids that former Pres.Bush had in place he still couldn’t cut it. He sounded almost as good as Gov. Palin when she has to speak without a prepared speech!

Ugh! I can’t believe I’m doing this but I have to defend GW Bush, because he was a far better public speaker than Palin.  At least he didn’t wink after every other sentence.  Also his sentences never ended in  "uh huh…you betcha".  I never once heard Bush use the word "Mavericky"…lol

Rachel:  …his teleprompter…

BHO brought a dozen teleprompters with him on this European vacation of his.  When I heard that I thought, Only a dozen?

As for Sarah Palin, I think she should give it a rest.  She’s young, and if the time is ever ready again, she can give it another go.  After seeing what the Dems and the MSM did to Hillary, who was 100 times more qualified than BHO, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is not yet a woman’s time for the highest office in the land.

The concern is that the last time your side went into a swoon over a barely articulate pol with few or no intellectual gifts and who took such pride in his ignorance, he came thisclose to ruining this great nation. Sarah Palin is George Bush in a cheap dress. She’ll never be president and if there’s a move to install her in the Oval Office, you’ll see liberals picking up the war cry of your Rep. Michelle Bachman (R-Looney Tunes), "Not on our watch."

Cheap dress? Nah. $150,000 dollar wardrobe! And lipstick. Don’t forget the lipstick.

Deber, That she is able to impress others who are in the same choir is not that impressive It’s not how you win elections. A politician wins an election by impressing poeple who are not in their camp already.

Melinda, very good point that a politician wins an election by impressing people….with their vision for our country if I might add.   "Buying" an election is something else entirely.

Even if what you said was true, that still does nothing to diminish the point that she is more qualified than Mr. "uhh, uhh, uhh, a breathalyzer, uhh, no, not a breathalyzer" Obama — who "can barely speak a coherent sentence unless it’s written out for" him (on the love of his life, the teleprompter, of course!). :-)

So we’re agreed. Sarah Palin is the biggest victim in politics. That’s her platform: Vote for me because everyone hates me!
